PREGNANCY #2: 26 Week Update

This week has certainly been the most uncomfortable week I've had bump wise this pregnancy. There have been sharp pains that have made me gasp in pain, while other times it's just been an incredibly stretched feeling. I presume little one is doing lots of growing and it's suddenly making my bump stretch a lot, but boy it's been uncomfortable. I suffered at the start of my first pregnancy with hip pain as my bump grew and I've been so lucky not to have that so far this time. I guess my body has been stretched once and lets be honest it never 'popped back'. However this week I've really struggled to cope with the pain/uncomfortable feeling. There's been a lot of doubling over, rubbing my bump/lower back and hugging my Theraline Plushy Moon pregnancy pillow like you wouldn't believe. That thing is the only reason I've slept this week, I'm sure of it.

I don't know about you but I'm getting a bit bored of writing about heartburn?! Once again from about 5pm acid has been burning my throat until I go to bed. No fun, but not the worst thing in the world. I keep meaning to pick up some Love Hearts; I'll try anything (that isn't a tablet, they make me gag).

The kicks have taken a whole new level this week, which has been incredible. As I sit here typing this my bump is jumping all over the place! Though I've spent far too long trying to capture the kicks on video, all with no success. As soon as I put my phone down she starts kicking again, typical. Persistence is key with this one I think. While having a bath earlier in the week little one was kicking so much that the water was swirling around, such a special moment.

Tiredness seems to have really hit again this week, though I think I may have myself to blame rather than pregnancy. I had a few really long days at work and then came home and did a few hours of blogging. This means that I have been going to bed later than usual, next week I need to get some early nights in. Life just seems so busy at the moment - we have builders in almost everyday putting a downstairs toilet in, I'm planning Isabella's second birthday party, got lots of work on, trying to work hard on improving my blog/social media platforms, replying to emails, preparing to decorate Isabella's 'big girl' room, it's my birthday next week and Isabella is starting to test the boundaries a bit more.

On a MUCH more exciting note - I finally submitted my final date at work before maternity leave starts!! I'm going off at 36 weeks this time, rather than 37 weeks like I did with Isabella. There just seems to be so much more to organise this time and I want to enjoy a few child-free days before life gets beyond busy again.

When did/are you starting maternity leave?

Feel free to leave a comment - I love reading every single one :)

  1. It is really interesting to hear where you are as I am only 5 weeks behind you. I have to say that I have had a bit of pain with stretching but hoping not to get anymore! Maternity Leave for me isn't really a fixed date as I freelance - last time I was working on the Friday and gave birth on the Tuesday! #MaternityMondays

  2. Wow 26 weeks, time seems to be flying by for you! I loved it when my two really started to give me a good boot, it's such a magical feeling. Having a few days rest before the fun starts definitely sounds like a good idea! Thanks so much for linking up to #Blogstravaganza, hope to see you again next week xx

  3. Sorry to hear about the pain - hope it's settling down a bit now. And I HATE HEARTBURN! Gaviscon all the way for me, I even keep some in the change bag ;-) Yay for maternity leave and that's a beautiful bump! xx

  4. These babies are pickles aren't they?! At 28 weeks, baby is wriggling like mad and my tummy morphs into the weirdest of shapes and yet the moment I go to video it or get OH to feel she stops! Heartburn & reflux sucks! Someone told me to have half an apple after each meal and it seems to have helped a little. Maternity leave starts for me at 36 weeks too on 30th April and I can safely say I am counting down the days! :)

  5. Awwww heartburn! Love Hearts do help though. I had for a few weeks but it then went for a while. Now at 25-26 weeks it is coming back again! Hope you get something that helps you!! #MaternityMondays

  6. Oh bless you, the stretching pains are really horrible aren't they. I feel you re the heartburn, I really suffered with this in this pregnancy and my last, at least now I'm 39 weeks and baby's moved down into my pelvis this has subsided! I went off on maternity leave at 34 weeks, as it worked out well with what work wanted and I was working 13hr shifts on my feet so I think it was for to best! #maternitymondays
