PREGNANCY: Finding Your Own Spring/Summer Maternity Style 2019

Finding out you're pregnant can bring on so many different emotions and then the moment your bump starts to appear there's a whole new challenge...what to wear? Despite having been pregnancy twice before I still find myself staring into my wardrobe at 15 weeks wondering what I am going to wear for the day?! I have plenty of maternity clothes from my previous pregnancies, but they were too big and my non-maternity clothes were getting too tight. Like a lot of women, I feel at my most body confident when I'm pregnant and am all about trying to show my bump from as early on as possible. Let's be honest, it's the only time I'm going to be wearing figure hugging clothes so why not make the most of it?

This is the first time that I'm pregnant over the summer months and I've quickly learnt that that brings a whole new challenge when it comes to what to wear. Keeping cool and comfortable is a priority, but also keeping in mind that my bump will only be getting bigger over the summer months. I've spent many hours browsing the internet for maternity-friendly summer clothes and thought I'd share my top picks, if like me you're also struggling to know what to wear.

Isabella Oliver Alexina Maternity Shirt Dress - £139 {currently on sale for £111}
You can't beat a shirt dress when pregnant in my opinion; they are suitable for day, night or work and the buttons give the option to be nursery friendly after your baby arrives. This shirt dress from Isabella Oliver is stunning with it's shadow polka dot pattern and deep burgundy colour. I'm 5 foot 7 and this dress falls just below my knee, so is perfect for running around after Isabella and Poppy. There is a tie detail that goes over the bump to really synch you in and accentuate your growing bump.
New Look Maternity Multicoloured Floral Tiered Jersey Maxi Dress - £19.99
I have been really keen to expand my collection of maternity-friendly maxi dresses, as I'm conscious of how swollen I can get later in pregnancy. I find New Look's maternity section a bit hit and miss depending on the season and the fact that such a limited amount is ever instore does make trying their clothes on tricky. This Multicoloured Floral Tiered Jersey Maxi Dress is made from stretchy material, which is not only comfortable but will also grow with the bump too. A feature I do especially love is that it is nursing-friendly too, although despite not sizing up I found that the straps are far too low. The straps aren't adjustable either, so I think I may need to sew them to be shorter otherwise there's a risk of exposing myself! Just something to bear in mind when ordering and trying it on.
Just Polly is a new brand to me and one that I have fallen in love with. Their classic and timeless designs really stand out, along with their patterns and colour palette. The Anna Dress is a beautiful monochrome dress that falls just above my knee and has elbow length sleeves. It also has a black zip part way down the front of the dress, which transforms it into a nursing-friendly dress too. The loose fitting and cool material make The Anna Dress ideal for summer, whether that be at work, on a day out or into the evening.
Isabella Oliver Freya Maternity Shirt Dress - £139 {currently on sale for £83}
The delicate polka dot pattern across the Freya Maternity Dress from Isabella Oliver is really unique, as it combines yellow and black. This is another shirt dress, but this time there is a larger tie around the top of the bump and it falls just above my knees. I love that it has long sleeves, which can easily be rolled up when the days get hotter. It will also be nursing-friendly, so it a dress not just for pregnancy and instead more of an investment. The quality of Isabella Oliver clothing is like no other; it's incredibly luxurious with even the tiniest detail has been thought of.
If you've been pregnant throughout the summer months did you find it hard to know what to wear?

  3. I had no idea that you were pregnant with baby nr 3! Congratulations! You look so radiant, I hope you feel good, too.
    I loved the outfit ideas, especially the dress on the last photo. I gave birth to my son at the beginning of September and I struggled a lot to find comfy summer maternity clothes.

  12. My favourite place to buy maternity clothes when I was pregnant was GAP. I loved to layer dressed over leggings and tshirts.
