If you like wine you need a Corkcicle...

Until recently I wasn't really a wine drinker, I was more of a spirits and mixer fan, but my soon to be Mother in Law has got me into wine over the summer! I have to say I do feel a lot more 'lady like' now I can actually enjoy a glass of wine, without pulling faces at every sip. If your over 18 and love wine, then you need this amazing product....

It's a frozen icicle that you can pop in your wine bottle to keep it cool! How genius?! As I've said, I'm no wine connoisseur, but I do know that when white or rose wine is warm, it isn't very nice at all! A Corkcicle is the solution to taking a bottle of wine on a picnic, to a BBQ where the food/drink is outside, anywhere that your having wine and there isn't a fridge to continue to keep it cool. When I first saw this product I thought you poured water in a mould and it created this icicle - I was wrong. It's a reusable gel filled icicle that you just pop in the freezer until frozen, place in the wine bottle and it keeps your wine at a cooler temperature for longer. It doesn't dilute your wine, like ice cubes do and you don't need any more space than the wine bottle itself, unlike wine buckets. I can't believe I haven't found this product before, it's perfect as a present for so many people I know!

Root7 kindly sent me one to review and with my high expectations I tried this product out. The Corkcicle retails at £19.99 and is available from the corkcicle website, amazon, firebox, argos, iwantoneofthose (for £19.95) and loads more online retailers. You can buy the corkcicle with a traditional cork design on the top or a variety of colours! I was sent the blue colour corkcicle, which really livens up a wine bottle. The packaging makes this product feel so luxurious and I can imagine if you were giving this as a gift (Christmas will creep up on us very quickly now we're in September) the excitement on the receivers face as they work out what it is :)

After popping it in the fridge overnight, in fact you can just keep it in the freezer for whenever you'll want a nice, chilled glass of wine! You pour a glass of wine out of the bottle, then place the frozen corkcicle in and that's it! If your (responsibly) enjoying a glass of wine outside then the corkcicle has the added bonus of stopping little flies going into the wine bottle too.

We enjoyed the bottle of wine in front of the TV on a Friday evening, the perfect way to unwind after a long week at work and we didn't even have to keep getting up to fetch the cool wine from the fridge!

Are you going to try a Corkcicle?

Feel free to leave me a comment :)

  1. That's a very cool idea! We could have done with one of those for our picnic in the forest last weekend. If nothing else, it would have kept the wasps out of the bottle...
