LIFE: August Bank Holiday Weekend 2015

Bank holiday weekends are always such a bonus...an extra day off as a family. I obviously don't need the 'day off' as I'm on maternity leave but it's always lovely to have my husband around too. On Saturday we decided to have a day out in Stratford-upon-Avon, a place we have been a lot but never with Isabella. It's the home of Shakespeare and therefore lots of tourists! There are so many beautiful old buildings, cute shops and cafes, as well as the picturesque river to walk down. We visited Pizza Express for lunch and were glad we had taken Isabella in the baby carrier, as most of the cafes/restaurants in Stratford are tightly packed with tables.

Sunday
Sunday was a bit of a wash out - we visited a food festival but it was pretty small and the live music was too loud for Isabella. So we had a wander around the local town, got soaked and stumbled across an Guinness World record attempt for pulling a lorry! Then we found a garden centre for a late lunch, which was full of wasps and a leaking roof. A random day to say the least.
Monday
We spent the morning trying to catch up on some much needed sleep because Isabella hasn't been sleeping very well at all. We're up and down most of the night, which is both exhausting and puzzling. We then nipped to pick up our food order from Waitrose, but it wasn't ready so they offered us a free drink and cake each in their cafe. Bonus. After that we took Isabella swimming for the first time and she loved it! The baby pool had bubbles coming up from the floor and a bubbling treasure chest, which she was fascinated by. We can't wait to go swimming more often, especially as it completely tired Isabella out!

Did you have a nice bank holiday weekend?

  1. Ah what a lovely weekend you had! I wanted to do so much more but the weather was crap yesterday, we just ended up having a lazy day at home. Love Isabella's little swimming cossie, so cute! My little boy is almost 3 but we've been taking him swimming since he was about 14 weeks old and he loves it, he's such a water baby. He has no fear and his favourite thing is leaping in from the side!! xx #twinklytuesday
