#LITTLELOVES: Easter, Farm Trips and Bunny Ears

I hope you all had a lovely Easter and bank holiday weekend - wasn't it lovely to have so much time off? We started the weekend with minimal plans and ended up filling each day to the point we were absolutely exhausted by the end of it. We took part in an 'Egg Extravaganza' at a local farm, went swimming, visited Oxford for the day, got lots of jobs done around the house and exchanged Easter eggs. We're currently starting to focus on getting Isabella's 'big girl' room ready for her to move in as time is slipping away and ideally she'd be well settled by the time the baby arrives. Finger's crossed we can get it done (that's the royal 'we' - I won't be doing much at 34 weeks pregnant!).

I'm not lucky... by Kerry Conway. Kerry is a fellow blogger, as well as YouTuber and when I read her post about not being lucky it opened my eyes to a new way of thinking. In the post Kerry talks about how people will often say to her how lucky she is for various things, including having a nice house, a job where she can work from home, earn a good living etc. But instead of agreeing with feeling lucky Kerry discusses the hard work and sheer determination that has created all of those things. This really resonated with me, though I may feel incredibly lucky about lots of things in my life, luck doesn't actually have much to do with it. In reality I've worked really hard at work, my relationship, at creating a comfortable life for my family. One of the only things that I do believe has a lot to do with luck is being able to conceive and carry our daughters. I'll forever feel like and be the luckiest person alive for that.

Reported Missing. It's a BBC documentary series about missing people and how the police approach searching for them. I've always found these kinds of programmes so interesting, but now I'm a parent it puts things into a whole different perspective. It's truly heart-breaking, not only for the parents but the reasons why the children felt pushed to running away.

The ding of a microwave. I know this is a slightly tenuous link, but after months of having no microwave we finally bought one. It has made life so much easier with a toddler because before I was having to make everything fresh instead of heating meals from the freezer in the microwave. It's also meant we don't have to spend quite so much time in the kitchen.

Easter Nests. In true Easter tradition I whipped up a batch of these Easter Nests with a mixture of Rice Krispies and Cornflakes. They're seriously addictive aren't they? My husband initially said he didn't like them, yet ended up devouring the majority of them. I need to stock up on Mini Eggs before the shops stop selling them!

Bunny Ears. Again, along the Easter theme of the week Isabella has been wearing bunny ears for most of the week. As her party was bunny themed she has ended up with quite the collection of different bunny ears, many of which are worn at the same time! We have a late birthday present for her, which is a dressing up box filled with goodies and I can't wait for her to have it when her 'big girl' room is ready.

Over the long bank holiday weekend we headed to an 'Egg Extravaganza' at a local farm. The farm was so busy with lots of children completing the egg hunt, enjoying a day out with their family and visiting the Easter rabbit. It was so lovely to spend the day together and the sun was even shining! Isabella's going through a phase at the moment of insisting on walking and then not. This is proving tricky because I can no longer carry her for any distance and pushing the pushchair/back carrier when she is walking is hard. Hopefully this phase will pass soon - did you little ones go through this?

What have you been loving this week?

Feel free to leave a comment - I love reading every single one :)

  1. Sounds like a lovely bank holiday. Hopefully it's just a phase but my eldest still winges to be carried some days. Others she walks loads! I think she'd still sit in a pushchair if we let her! She's 4 next week. Other kids I know have refused pushchairs from 2/3! Love your baking. A microwave is a big help so I can see why you're excited.

  3. Ooh I love all the Eastery bits in your post this week! We were away so kind of missed out on all the fun, but we have more than enough eggs to make up for it haha. Good luck with the room change, I bet she's so excited! Xx

  4. Parker hates being in a pushchair, but will gladly walk alongside it and hold on to it (something the childminder teaches them). I also read and loved that post from Kerry, very relatable. Enjoy your weekend xx
