TOUR DE TRIKE: Exploring University of Leicester Botanic Gardens

Exploring the outdoors is one of our favourite things to do as a family because it keeps everyone happy. Isabella loves the freedom, Poppy enjoys watching the world go by and we are happy that the children are happy; that's life as a parent for you. Poppy has recently been trying a whole new mode of transport...the Perfect Fit 4-in-1 Trike from Little Tikes* (£89.99) for our family adventures. It's perfect for letting her see the world, while there are many practical features that make it a breeze to use from a parent's point of view. There's something so much more fun and novel about being pushed around in a Trike rather than a pushchair, which has therefore helped Poppy stay entertained during days out. Little Tikes have an impressive range of Tikes, so it is easy to find one that suits your needs, budget and child's age.

The Perfect Fit 4-in-1 Trike is suitable from 9 months all the way until they're 5 years old, which is a really big selling point to me. As parents, we all buy seemingly endless toys, gadgets and products that are only played with or used for a matter of months before they've outgrown it. Knowing that the Trike will grow and adapt over many years really makes it good value for money, as well as being something siblings can enjoy too. Having two children (a one year old and three year old) means that there is a desire for everything to be shared, which often just isn't possible due to their size difference. However, as the Perfect Fit 4-in-1 Trike can be adapted and used all the way until Isabella is five years old means that they will both have many years of enjoyment from it. It also saves a lot of arguments or Isabella feeling left out!
Prior to receiving this Trike I had no idea there were so many clever features to make our life easier as parents, as well as offering a smooth, comfortable ride for children. Some of these are:
  • 4 Stages to grow with your child - Guided (9 months+), Learning (12 months+), Developing (18 months+) and Independent (30 months+).
  • Adjustable height - the removeable steering handle for parents allows us to give children that much wanted freedom when we judge they are ready.
  • Seat adjusts to 4 positions - comfort all the way for children.
  • Durable tyres - offering a smoother ride.
  • 5-Point seat belt, foot brake and safety bar - safety is of paramount importance, which is reassuring for parents to know.
  • Extra large storage bucket - this is seriously handy for wipes, water bottles, removed cardigans, picnics etc.
  • Removeable and adjustable canopy with UV protection - perfect for sunny days or as a little den if you're little one thinks like Isabella.
  • Convenience tray - the ideal place to pop your phone, water bottle etc. so that they're in easy reach.
All of these combined make the Trike the perfect companion for exploring, which is exactly what we did at the weekend when we visited University of Leicester Botanic Gardens as part of the Tour de Trike campaign run by Little Tikes in honour of the Tour de France. Located on the outskirts of Leicester, the University Botanic Gardens are a peaceful haven of natural beauty. Every time I've visited it's been so quiet, which makes it hard to believe it is located in the centre of a big city.
A path leads around the gardens, taking you past ponds, greenhouses, trees, plants and flowers. We took a picnic, found shade under a tree and really took time out from our busy day-to-day life. Poppy absolutely loved being low enough to see everything, the breeze from all angles helped to keep her cool and as the paths were smooth it made steering the Perfect Fit 4-in-1 Trike really easy too. I'd highly recommend a visit there if you're in the area and fancy a bit of time out from the hustle and bustle. I look forward to returning in autumn when the golden browns and rich reds make their appearance.
Where would you like to explore over the summer?

Feel free to leave a comment - I love reading every single one :)

  6. The gardens look beautiful, such a pretty place to walk around. I love the trike too, it must be much more fun to sit in for little ones than a pushchair.

  8. Totally loving this trike! We had one when our kids were young but this is much better as it has little compartments to carry food containers and water bottles.

  9. Absolutely love the pictures you've snapped in the Botanic Gardens - so beautiful. It's great that this trike will be able to be adapted and made more suitable as kiddies get older - it may be a higher price than regular trikes, but the longevity of it outweighs that x

  10. One of the things I really regret is not getting something like this to use with my youngest. He would have loved it. And can I just say how beautiful the pics are you've taken in the Botanic Gardens. I'm going to have to visit to see them for myself now :)
