Summer is quickly approaching, in fact we've already been treated to a few warmer days here in the UK. The moment that the sunshine appears Isabella and Poppy are eager to get out into the garden and I love that it expands our space to play dramatically. But going out into the garden for the first time post autumn/winter can be a bit of a shock, as there are a lack of plants/flowers, garden equipment has become more 'weathered' or even perhaps broken and the grass often looks very sorry for itself. Our garden is a really good size, however almost all of the grass area is on a hill which comes with a whole host of challenges. It is also on two different levels, so the seating area is separate to the grass area. This does allow us to create a more 'grown up' seating area down on the patio and then embrace the children's interests up on the grassed area. However your garden or outdoor area is laid out, transforming it into a practical yet beautiful space to enjoy the sunshine is such a fun activity to embrace during the spring months.
Every year we have grand plans for our garden, but with two young children those plans take a lot longer than we think they will and therefore less gets done. This year we are going to keep things simple with a new outdoor dining set, which I'm hoping will totally transform the patio area. Fishpools have been selling both indoor and outdoor furniture since 1899, so I think it's fair to say they have experience in choosing high quality, stylish and durable home furnishing. When browsing their website you'll find furniture for the whole house, so whether you're looking to transform your garden, living room or bedroom Fishpools is the place to go. Recently it's been their garden furniture that has been standing out, especially as they currently have up to 30% off and free immediate delivery.
When it comes to choosing the right garden furniture it is important to consider the space available, function of the furniture and the number of people that will be using it. As our family will be expanding at the end of this year we are now looking for garden furniture that will suit our (soon-to-be) family of five. Fishpools have a wide range of garden furniture, including dining sets, sofa sets, bar seats, sun loungers, parasols, garden accessories and rattan cube sets. As we're currently looking for a new dining set I though I'd share some of my favourite sets from Fishpools so that you can be inspired too:
Some other ways you can prepare your garden for summer are:
- Jet wash patio areas
- Plant new flowers/seeds
- Weed the flower beds
- Put up some outdoor bunting
- Mow the lawn
- Set lanterns around your patio area
- Hang up solar fairy lights to be enjoyed in the warmer evenings
- Trim hedges
- If you have children, sort out their outdoor toys so they're easily accessible
- Place colourful hanging baskets in areas that need brightening up
- Invest in a new outdoor dining set
- Ensure you have a hose that works - filling paddling pools take a very long time without one!
Are you excited for the summer months out in the garden?
Feel free to leave a comment - I love reading every single one :)
