PARENTHOOD: Preparing for Isabella and Poppy's Joint Birthday Party

PARENTHOOD: Preparing for Isabella and Poppy's Joint Birthday Party

The words 'birthday party' will either send parents into a state of panic or a state of planning, preparing and relishing in the organisational side of throwing a party. I have to admit I am the latter of those two, however on the run up to Isabella and Poppy's birthday party this year I have been struggling with morning sickness as I'm pregnant with our third baby. It meant that I needed to keep things simple and as easy as possible because with a bedtime of 7.30pm there wasn't much time away from the girls. Thankfully, PoundToy has a wide array of birthday presents, party bag fillers and decorations that are all very affordable and their website is incredibly easy to navigate.

Throwing a birthday party can very quickly become expensive with all of the decorations, food, drinks, presents for the birthday girl/boy, party bag fillers, hall hire, entertainment etc., so saving money as and where you can really helps to keep the cost down. PoundToy's wide array of toys, gifts and decorations are all really reasonably priced, with many costing only £1! When shopping on their website you are able to search based on price, age, brand, seasonal event or sale, so there is no time wasted endlessly searching. You're purchases can be quick and we all know that time is too precious to spend hours browsing through everything.
The first aspect to Isabella and Poppy's party that I focused on was the party bag fillers and because Isabella had requested a mermaid themed party all I had to do was search 'mermaid' on the PoundToy website and there I found a range of affordable party bag fillers to choose from. The three items I choose were Mermaid Glitter Goo (£1 each), Mermaid Magic Towel (£1 each) and Dinosaur Egg Slime Toy (£1 each). I thought it would be nice to have a range of toys included in the party bags, so each guest would receive either the Glitter Goo, Magic Towel or Dinosaur Egg. Seeing the girl's friends peak inside their party bags with excited faces and then hear all about how much they've loved seeing the flannel expand or play with the slime was just magical.

As part of the Mermaid Party we had a craft table with salt dough, cutters and bunny rabbit cards to decorate. PoundToy has a range of arts and crafts sets/accessories that would have worked perfectly on this table. The Gem Stickers (£1) were ideal for decorating the rabbit cards because they didn't require any additional glue and the children could remove the stickers from the sheet by themselves. They were the first to be finished during the party!
Finally, I focused on the affordable gifts for Isabella and because she turned four years old her interests have really changed recently. She's able to do much more complicated activities and absolutely loves anything creative, outdoors or things she can do with Poppy too. If you haven't visited PoundToy for at least some of your child's birthday presents then you've been missing a trick. They have lots of well known brands, including Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, Despicable Me, Crayola, Intex, Grafix, Mega Bloks etc. and there is often a considerable discount off RRP.
Below are my top picks...

I love the idea of a little arts and crafts station for the kids, to get them all to play together and bond.
Happy birthday to the little mermaids <3
