PREGNANCY #3: Let's Talk About...Expecting a Baby Boy After Two Girls

PREGNANCY #3: Let's Talk About Expecting a Baby Boy After Two Girls
*Advertorial Content - Gifted Item
From the moment we found out we were having a baby boy, after two girls, I began to imagine what life will be life. I know nothing about raising boys, despite knowing that every child is different, he idea of having a boy does intimidate me to be honest. we couldn't be more excited about expecting a boy and personally I'm finding the unknown very exciting.

When we found out Poppy (our second daughter) was a girl I was over the moon and so emotional that we had given Isabella a little sister. I had always wanted a sister growing up, so it felt like a dream come true to have two little girls. But when it came to thinking about the gender of our third baby there really was no gender preference. We knew girls, had all the clothes/toys/accessories we could ever need for another girl and as one of the only girls on my side of the family it is always exciting when another girl is added. However, a boy was the exciting unknown, a discovery and one that would have made this pregnancy that bit different.
When the sonographer revealed that we were indeed expecting a baby boy we all couldn't believe it. Having had two gender reveals being girls this was territory we didn't know and couldn't wait to let our extended families know. My husband isn't one of these Dad's who wishes and longs for a son; he grew up with two sisters and there are a lot of females on his side of the family, so he is more than comfortable being surrounded by just girls. But I was excited for him, excited to see what our son would look like, excited for us to experience the whole new journey together.
Personally, with every pregnancy I've had there are less unknowns, less milestones you've not reached before, less to prepare and less to discover. I know what to expect when it comes to pregnancy, labour and those early newborn days, so expecting a boy this time has added an extra sprinkle of magic. We've never needed to look at boys clothes before or think of boys names or even say 'he'. The newness of the whole experience has been intimidating at times, but also exciting and well...new. It may sound funny to say that something is 'new' in your third pregnancy, but that's how it feels and it has certainly added an extra spring into my step. Though I have to be honest I am finding it really hard to find baby boys clothes I like - does anyone have any recommendations? I absolutely love the very classic babies clothing that brands like La Coqueta offer, but find this style hard to find sometimes.

The challenge of finding boys clothes has been so enjoyable so far and thinking of a name has ended in a lot of 'we'll think about it again another time'. We had endless girls names, but when it comes to boys names we just keep struggling. I'm sure we'll stumble across a name and fall in love with it between now and October; let's hope so anyway. If you have any suggestions then I'd love to hear them please!

Feel free to leave a comment - I love reading every single one :)

  3. I have two boys. For their names we got out paper and started writing any name important to us, such as my father's.Then we wrote any other names we loved. Then we paired things up until we came up with names that felt and sounded right for us.

  11. Congratulations! We have two boys and I love being a 'boy mum'. We didn't find out either time though what we were having, so our preparations were the same for a boy or a girl. I don't think I'd have done much different if I had known.

  14. My son is the middle child with a sister either side of him. I think I was anxious about having a boy purely due to not being sure about how to clean his bits and how to tuck things in. You soon get the hang of it

  15. Those little outfits are so cute!! I had a boy then two girls and then a boy again and I just always thought whatever I had was perfect. As they've grown up I don't think it's the boy/girl difference that makes them different just the fact that they are a different person if that makes sense!

    Huge congratulations!!
