EVENT: Micky Flanagan Back in the Game Tour

My Dad's birthday was back in March and we bought him (and ourselves!) tickets to see Micky Flanagan live at the National Indoor Arena (NIA) in Birmingham. I didn't really know much about Micky Flanagan's comedy but my Dad is a huge fan. Going to see a comedian live is such a fun way to spend an evening, especially when partnered with a meal before and drinks after! When Tom and I started going out I got him tickets to see Russell Howard live at the Metro Centre in Newcastle, because we were at university in Durham. Russell Howard was absolutely fantastic and the atmosphere was electric!

Micky Flanagan was hilarious, I laughed so much I started to shake! His 'Back in the Game' tour is currently touring around the United Kingdom, its been so popular that there's been an extra date added to Birmingham! The tour is in Manchester next, back to Birmingham, then the O2 and finally in Brighton - finishing at the start of December.

Here's the view from my seat...

I always find it so fascinating how comedians can move between topics so smoothly, before you've stopped laughing at the last joke they're onto another topic!

Have you seen any comedians live?

Feel free to leave me a comment :)

  1. I love Micky Flanagan! I went to see a local comedian once and we sat on the front row. They absolutely tear you apart but it was so funny! Your photos are ace too! I hope you and your dad had fun! x

  2. We saw Micky Flanagan right back at the beginning of his 'Back in the Game' tour when he played Bristol - and he was fab, as we knew he would be. :-)
We've also seen Russell Howard about 6 times - we were fans back in the day when he used to play in a tent in a field at Bristol's Ashton Court Festival round about 2000/2001 and rooms in the back of local pubs (I even got to meet him once at a pub in Chippenham, Wiltshire).
Going to stand up comedy gigs is me and the other half's favourite type of date, I've lost count of the amount of comedians we've seen live! Plus we go to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival every year and see about a dozen shows and comedians - as well as Mickey and Russell, I'd definitely recommend Seann Walsh, Josh Widdicombe, Lucy Porter, Shappi Khorsandi, Adam Hills, Marcus Brigstocke, Andrew Maxwell and Mark Thomas. Actually I could probably recommend a lot more if I could remember them all! :-) x
