REVIEW: Andrew James Bread Maker and Wrights Bread Mixes

I received the Andrew James Bread Maker (£59.99) for Christmas and have loved everything about it since! This is the first bread maker I've owned, so I'm no expert, but I wanted to share with you the wonders of this product because lets be honest, there's nothing better than waking up on a Sunday morning to the smell of freshly baked bread. I have spent years making fresh bread on the odd occasion but it makes a mess everywhere (I'm one of the messiest cooks out there) and requires a lot of love and labour. So I asked for a bread maker for Christmas, my uncle uses one religiously and his house always smells so amazing.

I was so excited to not only open this bread maker but also a range of Wrights bread and cake mixes to trial. Wright's do a wide range of easy to use bread and cake mixes, that are especially easy to use when using a bread maker. As a novice this is exactly what I needed and I was so impressed with the range, including: Premium White (my absolute favourite white bread mix so far), chilli bread, mixed grain, sunflower, oat and linseed, parmesan and sun dried tomato, naan, garlic and rosemary focaccia and ciabatta to name a few. They also have a lovely range of cake mixes: chocolate fudge, carrot, toffee, ginger and madeira. I can't recommend their mixes enough!

I featured the first ever loaf of bread I cooked in the Andrew James Bread Maker in my Photo a Day series. I couldn't believe how much it rose. There are a variety of setting you can chose from - I've been using setting number 1 (3 hours) with a dark crust. The dark crust isn't actually very dark, I was using the medium setting but personally the crust was too light.

This is what Andrew James say about their bread maker...

'The Digital Bread Maker is more than an ordinary bread making machine. With its numerous key features the Bread Maker will not only enable you to make fresh bread, it will also allow you to make tasty cakes, pizza dough and even homemade jams. The bread maker’s key features include the option to make either 700g or 900g loaves with the choice of a light, medium or dark crust.

The 13 hour programmable delay timer and 60 minute keep warm function, will allow you to arrive home to the smell of delicious homemade bread ready to be enjoyed.

The bread maker also makes baking bread quick and easy, with 12 digital programmes to choose from and an automatic fruit and nut dispensing function. This means you do not have to worry about timings as the ingredients are added at exactly the correct point.'

^ A compartment for you to add nuts/seeds to your bread. ^

I'm looking forward to experimenting more with this fantastic bread maker; you can make jams/chutneys, cakes and different types of bread that I haven't had a go at!

Have you got a bread maker or want one?
