We've now spent 8 months planning our wedding - 8 months browsing the Internet for ideas, 8 months making wedding decorations, 8 months scouring the shops for wedding bargains, 8 months deliberating, 8 months being the most indecisive I've ever been! I've never been known as being the decisive one but wedding planning has made me so unsure of ever decision I make. I'm not sure if it's because we only get to plan a wedding once or because there is often so much money involved. If I'm honest, it's probably a combination of both.
A while ago now I spent no less than 4 hours continuously searching for a wedding dress online. I thought I had decided on my wedding dress, after spending a lovely couple of weeks last summer wedding dress shopping across the country. However I made it my mission to find a wedding dress that's similar but not so expensive, perhaps unfortunately (though my bank balance would disagree) I'm one of those people who thinks 'but it's just ONE day and that's a lot of money for ONE day'. On the other hand almost everyone else around me has the attitude, that it is only ONE day so why not treat yourself? But then again they don't have to pay for it, I'd probably have that attitude if the money wasn't mine! So after my summer wedding dress shopping and the numerous hours spent browsing online, the big question was - had I found my dream wedding dress? The short answer was - no. But I had found a number of lovely dresses that were my 'favourites'. There are just so many gorgeous wedding dress designers out there, here are just some of the decisions you can make when looking for a wedding dress...

So, after you think you've made all of those decisions and your happy with them, you can guarantee you'll change your mind! I did anyway. I went out wedding dress shopping with a clear idea of what I wanted and the type of dress that I thought would suit my body shape. Everyone I told said that I would change my mind but me being me, meant that I was determined to be right! However once I had tried on a couple of dresses in that style I decided to try other styles 'just to see what they look like'. Turns out what I thought would suit me the best, in fact doesn't. I'd say being open minded is vital.
I've not written this to scare you, overwhelm you or make you dread wedding dress shopping. In fact the total opposite. Even though some of these decisions may be hard, others will be very easy but most of all it's part of being a Bride to Be. You'll probably only have to make these decisions once, so embrace it and remember that. A couple of times I've become completely overwhelmed by all of these decisions but I have to remind myself that I only get a chance to do this once. So instead of allowing myself (and yourself) to become overwhelmed, embrace it!
What I'm trying to say, is go wedding dress shopping filled with excitement, anticipation, open minds and the expectation to make a lot of difficult decisions. Wedding dress shopping has been like a dream, there's not many shopping experiences so luxurious and where the focus is completely on you. Everyone in the shop (usually just one person working there and anyone you've bought along) will be looking at you, telling you how amazing you look - as you swirl around in front of the mirror - and envisage walking down to aisle towards the person you love.
Love is what a wedding should be about - the love for your partner, the love for everyone who has helped you, inspired you, taught you and the love you'll probably get for weddings.
