BEAUTY: Smashbox Primer Try It Kit

As you probably know by now, I've decided to do my own wedding make up. I'm excited to spend the next month trialling products and ideas but it is a slight added stress, an enjoyable one though. If that's possible. After doing a lot of research and asking on twitter (@Treasure_E_M) it quickly became obvious that I needed a high quality primer to go on under my make up. A primer is designed to create the perfect canvas for your make up to go on, it helps to keep your make up looking flawless all day and not 'slide' off your face! I've used Benefit Porefessional on and off for many years but I fancied trying out a new primer for our wedding. I came across the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, as it is held by a lot of beauty editors as being one of the best primers available.

When I went to America I decided to pick it up but was faced by a wide range of primers within this Photo Finish range.

Who knew there were so many different types within one brand?! I picked up the clear version in Ulta and headed to the checkout, but on the way I spotted a 'Try It' primer kit from Smashbox.
It contained a travel size Photo Finish Primer, Eyelid primer and under eye primer - all for $14 (around £8.50). A perfect way of trialling a range of the Smashbox primer products for a very reasonable price.

The Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer is a clear, soft liquid that is easy to apply to the skin and you only need a very small amount to completely cover the face. This little tube will last a good amount of time. I really like how easy this was to apply, it glides over the skin leaving it feel soft. My foundation did last noticeably longer and I also noticed that my face stayed matte for longer too.

The Photo Finish Hydrating Under Eye Primer has such good qualities for the under eye area. I bought a concealer in America that had such a good coverage but did go a bit cakey when applied straight to my skin. However when I applied this primer under my eye first and then applied the concealer it didn't go cakey at all! Hooray! As it is a light pink colour I also found that it lightened my under eye area - I have really dark circles so this helped to brighten the whole area.

Using an eye lid primer isn't new to me, I've wanted the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion for ages but just never gotten around to getting it. Now I don't need to now as the Smashbox Photo Finish Eye Lid Primer is just perfect. It's a neutral, beige shade, which has the 'my eye lid but better' effect. It helped to prevent eyeshadows creasing and also stopped eyeshadow fall out during application.

This primer kit is available from Boots for £19 - why is everything so much more expensive over here?!

Have you tried any of these primers before?

Feel free to leave me a comment :)
