As we are still renovating our house (it's been slow progress since Isabella was born, but that's ok) we have the luxury of deciding what purpose we want each room in our house to serve. There are two 'reception rooms' downstairs, typically one would be a dining room and the other a living room. We're clearly keeping the living room, but the dining room is going to become a playroom for Isabella. We just feel that we don't need a separate dining room because our table and chairs all fit in the kitchen nicely.
I'm so excited to start preparing Isabella's playroom, putting together ideas for how it's going to look and what's going to be in it. I have a dream of having lots of different things to play with, a messy area, little children's tipi (because we got married in a big adult tipi), a creative area, toys, seating - basically an area Isabella can enjoy making, creating and growing. So I've been buying little pieces over the past three months that will be for her playroom. In a way it seems silly to buy them now because she can't play with them yet but you can never be too prepared! Also, I didn't want to wait until she's almost a year to start this project, as it will probably end up costing a bit of money and I want to spread the cost over the next year. As well as the fact that time seems to flash before your eyes when you have a child - I can't believe Isabella is already three months old!!
I'll probably be updating you with the pieces I've been picking up, along with any bargains! Also, if you have any recommendations of toys/furniture/anything that would work perfectly in a playroom then please let me know :) We're big fans of wooden toys, which I'm sure you'll see over the next year or so.
Ice-cream shop play tent - £12
Not for the playroom but cute anyway - Napkins - £1 each
Chalk - £2
Finger puppets - £3
Ice-cream shop doorway hanger - £6
Primark
Again, not for the playroom but cute nonetheless - Dress, Tight and Headband set - £7
7 pack of short sleeved vests - reduced from £7 to £3.50 - bargain!
3x wooden animals - £4.50 each and they were 3 or 2 at the Eden Project
Waggatts Toy Shop - Kilkhampton
2x wooden maracas (one small, one medium) - £2.99 each (similar here)
Toothbrush holder and timer - £2.99
(similar here)
JoJo Maman Bebe
I have already done a summer sale haul from JoJo Maman Bebe, but then we visited again and I picked up a couple more pieces ready for next summer. I'm going to be thankful for these purchases next summer, but convincing my husband I'm saving us money in the long run is harder!
(I thought these would look cute with the peter pan collar floral vests I got in the main haul)
Elephant and floral print tunic top - £14 reduced to £9
Where do you find the best place to pick up toys is?
Feel free to leave me a comment :)

How gorgeous. I love the little wooden animals. I don't actually have a spare room to make into a playroom that is what our daughters bedroom will be for...and probably every other room in the entire house. I know lots of people with a designated play area though and it's such a great idea. I can't wait to see it all come together!
ReplyDeleteWow! You've certainly been on a shopping spree. I could spend forever on Jack, I want to pick up everything I see. The funkier the better! This is a cool post. :) #PicknMix

ReplyDeleteI love how organised you're being, it's very smart because as you say the costs will add up so much better to spread them out :) #picknmix
How cute! We have the room for a playroom now for the boys at 9 and 11 but they're too old now typically! Some gorgeous choices and I can't wait to see it all finished! Thanks for linking up to #Picknmix

Tiger is a fantastic shop, which sells so many different things (toys, kitchen accessories, games, food, candles, wrapping paper etc) all for very reasonable prices :)
