HOLIDAY: A very sunny day on the South coast

On one of the days we were on holiday last week (read all about where we stay here) we drove down to the south coast of England to visit the sea! As a family from the Midlands, the seaside is such a special treat and one I look forward to when we go away. We drove along the coast looking for places to stop and explore, which is when we discovered Highcliffe Beach

There was a cafe with stunning views over the beach, ample parking and toilets with baby changing. It's quite a step hill to get down to the beach, so we put Isabella into our LittleLife baby carrier and wandered down to the sea. We were so lucky with the weather - can you believe these photos were taken in February?! The beach was a combination of sand, stones and shells - if it had been a bit warmer we would have gone paddling. Having said that my husband got too close to the waves a couple of times and ended up with soaking wet socks/shoes!

After clambering back up the hill we aimed to find a fish and chip shop, though after driving for over an hour we hadn't found one that had seating (we needed to feed Isabella too) so ended up at a little cafe in Sandbanks. Lunch with a view for sure, but not the fish and chips we were hoping for - are fish and chip shops with seating not a 'thing' on the south coast? We literally ran our of petrol looking for one!

What's your favourite beach to visit?
I'd love to discover a hidden gem.

  4. What a lovely thing to do for the day. I can't imagine not living near the sea but I would definitely want to do as you have done. A beautiful day you chose for it too. I hope you get to do it again, the seaside is great family fun. If you get a chance please join me for Country Kids, popping by from #Sharewithme and #BloggerclubUK

  8. I know Highcliffe beach too, lovely. Aside from the weather it's probably better at this time of year when there are fewer holidaymakers! #MMWBH Christine@afamilyday

  9. Gorgeous photos - it looks like a stunning day for a trip to the beach! How disappointing about the fish and chips though, you'd have thought it would be easy to find somewhere! #BloggerClubUK

  12. Oh no!! My Hubby and I use to do the same when looking for pubs when we were first dating its amazing how many we use to find that were shut. Now our time is scare (well for drinking in pubs anyway) we often see lovely little country pubs everywhere we go but unsuitable for a 3.5 year old!! I guess most of the fish and chip shops localish to us aren't seated :( (we are not that far from Brighton). It loos like a great day exploring though and the weather was fantastic. Thank you for joining us at #BloggerClubUK hope to see you again next week xx

  13. What beautiful pictures, it really does look like summer and not February. I'm glad you found somewhere to eat in the end. How strange that there was nowhere to sit in all of those places. I've not heard of that before. It looks like such a beautiful trip out though. Thank you for sharing your adventures with #whatevertheweather xx

  14. Gorgeous photos - I love being by the seaside when it's blue skies, however cold. I grew up in the Midlands too so it's definitely a treat to see the sea. And fish and chips are a must (with seats!)

  15. It's a shame there were no fish and chip shops with seating available, we have a mix up here, but at least the cafe you found has a great view. Gorgeous photos of the beach and sea, I have been missing the sea, need to get there again soon. We're up in Scotland though, so I imagine it will be pretty wild and cold at the coast. Looks like you had a wonderful day out. Thanks so much for liing up to #Whatevertheweather :) x
