Isabella's is now one...a whole year old! Her birthday was on a Sunday this year, so we had her party actually on her birthday. It was so special to have everyone who loves, cares and has been a big part of Isabella's first year altogether on her birthday. We organised her party to start at 12.30pm so that we had a good chunk of the morning to spend together, as well as putting the final touches to the party food. It worked really well because Isabella napped just before her party started, enabling her to dance the afternoon away!
We had a floral theme for the party - it fitted in well with a lot of accessories we already had and it's now spring so flowers are everywhere! In fact we used quite a few decorations that we had bought for our wedding back in 2014. We bought almost everything we had at our wedding, as opposed to renting them, which did seem silly at times but we're grateful for it now. It's well worth looking around your house to see what you already have before buying party decorations because you'll often have something you can use.
I enjoyed making quite a few decorations for the party, including two cake toppers, a floral number one and personalising the party bags. The prepations began back in January and we've had more to-do lists than you can imagine - just the food shopping list was three pages long. My love for lists has grown throughout this planning process, I'm sure of it. I absolutely love the run up to big events - the organising, preparing, making, cooking, cleaning, crafting, planning etc. - it's so much fun!

ReplyDeleteWow, that's incredible! I think Jenson's just gonna have a picnic in the park, weather permitting, and move it indoors if it's wet. I'm gonna stock up on Organix finger foods and big-ass balloons!
