CHRISTMAS: Childrens Gift Guide 2016

By the time toddler's become children they are often putting together long wishlists for Father Christmas. I remember many hours spent trawling through the Argos catalogue, neatly cutting out gift ideas ready to post to Father Christmas. Nowadays the internet opens a whole new world of gifts, with so many fantastic offers and discounts to be had. The child in me absolutely loves all of the gifts in this guide, many of which I had versions of when I was younger. Oh the memories...

Tildo Country Play Kitchen from BrightMinds (£109) - When I think back to my own childhood one of my absolute favourite things to play with was a play kitchen. Hours were spent making my family 'meals', washing up and organising my play food. Fast forward over 20 years and play kitchens are still such a popular choice for children, however the designs and features are far more advanced nowadays! BrightMinds stock a range of play kitchens, including this Country Play Kitchen by Tildo, as well as plenty of play food, money, pots, pans and utensils. This stunning Country Play Kitchen was designed to be slightly higher than most play kitchens, which means it will last for longer. I absolutely love how cosy and homely this kitchen looks, the Belfast inspired sink, pale blue colour and wooden surfaces all add to the appeal. It has one cupboard underneath the sink, a spacious oven to the left and because the kitchen is relatively deep there is a lot of storage available. It also comes with some of the cutest accessories, including a wooden bottle of washing up liquid, three utensils and salt and pepper pots. Children will enjoy hours playing with this kitchen and it is a present that will truly last for years and years. Aside from play kitchens BrightMinds really is your one stop website for toys, gifts and games. Their website is filled with science and tech games, kids gadgets, crafts, kids art supplies, maths learning, English learning, traditional toys, learning toys, wooden toys, outdoor toys, educational games and puzzles for kids.
Personalised Wooden Kids Dressing Up Crate from Plantabox (£36.95) - Personalised gifts are always extra special and children really appreciate it when their name features on a gift somewhere. Especially if they have siblings that may have their eye on their gift too! Plantabox have the most beautiful range of personalised wooden crates for around the home and garden, including planter crates, herb crates, storage crates, keepsake boxes, pet crates and kids crates. They make ideal wedding, Christmas, birthday, new baby, housewarming gifts or just as a treat for yourself. This Personalised Kids Dressing Up Crate is perfect for filling with pirate/ princess/ doctor/ firefighters/ tutus/ witches/ dinosaur etc. costumes. You can pick the colour (this one is in coastal mist), anything from rustic pine to lime green to pink to beach blue. You can then choose the font between Kids or Plantabox fonts, this one is Plantabox font and the text colour between black and white. Next you choose the lettering/symbols you want on your crate, I especially like that they show you want it will look like there and then. You don't have to guess what the spacing will look like or if the colours match. Finally you can add wheels, a blackboard, crate lid or hessian liner for an extra cost if you'd like. They are really quick and easy to order too!
Baby Annabell Interactive Doll (£39.99 from Argos) - Baby Annabell takes children into a world filled with realistic sounds and movements of a baby. She babbles, gurgles, sucks from her bottle or dummy with real sounds and movements, cries real tears, burps, yawns and falls asleep. New features also include the ability to wet her nappy or use the potty. These are such unique aspects to a doll, they've certainly moved on since I will little! Children often want to be like us 'grown ups', so the life like features of Baby Annabell are just so exciting. She comes with a bottle, dummy, bib, nappy and cute pendant. There are also numerous accessories that can be bought, including clothing, a bedroom, comfort seat, changing bag, potty, bed etc. It does require batteries, which aren't provided, so it may be worth stocking up before Christmas day to avoid disappointment.
^Isabella is fascinated by Baby Annabell and kepy saying "Hello Baby"!^
Kids My Muffin Mix by Quai Sud (€9.95) - Baking with children is the perfect way to educate them about where food comes from, as well as giving them such essential life skills. It's also lots of fun and there are (hopefully) tasty treats to enjoy at the end! Quai Sud do a range of jars and glass bottles filled with various cake/cookie/rice pudding mixes. The My Muffin Mix has all of the dry ingredients you need to make apple and marshmallow muffins, all you have to add is butter, milk and egg. These mixes make lovely gifts for children to keep in the cupboard for a fun rainy day activity.
Brick Oven Bakery by Sylvanian Families (£37.39 from amazon) - Another nostalgic childhood memory for me is playing with Sylvanians, so it makes me beyond happy that children are still enjoying playing with them today. I can't wait for Isabella to be old enough to play with them, I'll be reliving my youth everyday then! I used to have (or probably still do have at my parents house) the canal boat, restaurant and treehouse. This Brick Oven Bakery is just the cutest, with 29 pieces of bread, to milk, butter, cheese, a till, Eleanor Bramble character, baking trays, baskets and tongs. There's an oven for baking the bread and plenty of shelving to display the goodies. It can also be interlinked with other Sylvanian products to make a village scene.
BABY Born Interactive Wonderland Doll (£39.99 from Smyths) - I feel like this gift guide is going to be a trip down memory lane for a lot of you reading this, it certainly is for me. BABY born was my choice of doll when I was younger, the fact it pooed never got boring (except for the time I forgot to put a nappy on it and it went everywhere. Hard life lesson was learnt that day and I've never made that mistake with Isabella!) The range of BABY Born dolls has increased over the years and the features have changes slightly too. This Wonderland Doll is inspired by magic, unicorns and fairy tales, it comes with a beautiful shimmering dress, colour-coordinating ballerina shoes, elegant tiara, delicate bracelet and necklace with a unicorn pendant, a dummy, stunning butterfly wings, plate spoon, 1 portion of her favourite porridge, bottle and a potty. She's fully equipped for play straight away and with her nine lifelike functions (crying, sleeping, drinking, wet her nappy, eating, using the potty, fully bathable and moveable) there is so much fun to be had!

What are you buying the children in your life this Christmas?
