#LITTLELOVES: Parenting for Idiots, homemade granola and Iceland

I've not joined in with this linky before, but it seemed like the perfect way to capture little moments throughout the week that I don't want to forget. As we approach life with two children I want to be able to look back at my life now and remember all of the small things that were enjoyed.

As Easter and Isabella's birthday are getting nearer I have been digging out all of the old Spring Good Food magazines to browse and be inspired. This week nap time has been all about having a cup of tea (or homemade banana milkshake in this case), sweet treat and all the food magazines to browse in peace. I'm such a food geek and it has reminded me how much I loved having a Good Food subscription, must add it to my birthday list!
Parenting for Idiots on Channel 4 has been my favourite watch this week, if you haven't seen it and you're a parent then you must catch up. It has me quite literally laughing out loud on many occasions because lets be honest, parenting is one funny old experience! It's essentially a range of celebrities talking about their funny experiences of parenting, including exploding nappies, nits, injuries, sibling arguments, faking illness to get out of going to school etc.

This week Isabella had a settling in report from nursery (she moved up to the next room a few months ago) and it made me burst with pride, while the quotes they'd written in her way of speaking were just adorable. As I was reading them I could just hear her saying them like that! Here are some of my favourites from the report:
'What doin?'
'Der my wellies'
'Bella wellies'
I had forgotten how much I love homemade granola and Isabella's a big fan too, so this week we made a batch. It's seriously easy and quick to make and can be kept in an airtight container for a good while too. For this granola I mixed porridge oats, pistachios, cashews, almonds, pecans and coconut with a splash of maple syrup. Baked for 5 minutes in the oven, then added in dried tropical fruits, raisins and cranberries and baked for a further 2 minutes. It catches quickly, so you have to keep a close eye on it!
Stripy long-sleeved tops. I lived in these during my last pregnancy and they're back out with this one. I love being able to wear tighter tops while being pregnant, as they're usually avoided at all costs. You can see some of my stripy top collection each week on my pregnancy update posts, there are plenty of them. I did just get an email about an extra 10% off the ASOS sale, so more maternity clothes may be purchased very soon.

This week we've been getting ready for our first family holiday abroad to Iceland! There have been many warm layers bought, snow boots, bobble hats, gloves, travel size toiletries, in-flight entertainment for Isabella and tickets to the Blue Lagoon. I can't believe we're actually going to be brave and fly with a toddler. I am nervous, but mostly excited to discover Iceland and the natural beauty it has to offer.
What have been your #LittleLoves this week?

Feel free to leave a comment - I love reading every single one :)

  2. Sounds like you've had a fab week! Iceland will be so exciting! We traveled to Greece in the summer with our toddler and decided to use one of our bags simply for toys for the plane! A little travel sized pot from The Works of plasticine with little cutters was a big hit, and stickers! Have a great time!
