PREGNANCY #2: 22 Week Update

The most exciting part of this week was seeing the baby kick from the outside, not just feeling it. I was on my laptop working when I suddenly felt a kick and saw my tummy moving! I thought I was seeing things initially, so I then spent ages just staring at my bump waiting and watching. Eventually it happened again, so magical. Our little lady is certainly more active in the afternoon, evening and night time (please may that not be a reflection of what she'll be like as a newborn baby - not another baby that doesn't sleep!) with there being almost constant kicks. Most of the kicks feel 'internal', if that makes sense, but we're getting more and more outwards kicks/movements now too.

I thought morning sickness was making a return, as one evening this week I felt SO sick. Well at least I thought I did, but since thinking about what it felt like I think it might have been indigestion and/or heartburn. I'm rubbish with knowing symptoms because I'm usually never really poorly. It felt like a burning/gurgling sensation at the back of my throat, I felt uncomfortably full (despite not over eating) and it came on just after eating dinner. I didn't really suffer from this when I was pregnant with Isabella, so I'm in uncharted waters and don't know what to do. I've tried taking Gaviscon before but simply can't - the texture, taste and pill aspect make me gag. Dramatic I know. It's been happening after every meal (other than breakfast) for the past few days, so I'm really hoping this isn't it now for the next 4 months.

My bump has started doing this really strange thing where it almost completely disappears overnight and then by 5pm the next day it has popped out more than ever before. At work I get away with not looking pregnant in loose clothing, however by the time my husband is home I look heavily pregnant in whatever I wear! It pops before I've even had an evening meal, so it's not a combination of food baby and real baby. In the evening my bump is stretched, uncomfortable and I can feel the waddle coming out, however during the day I can quite easily go about my usual day to day business. So strange and again something I don't remember happening when pregnant with Isabella.

There have been no real cravings this week, other than healthier foods. I've been loving having a falafel couscous salad at lunch time on my days off (see my Instagram for a photo of the salad) and when my husband suggested going to McDonalds last weekend I was revolted at the idea! These pregnancy hormones are doing strange things to me.

Do you have any pregnancy friendly remedies for heartburn and/or indigestion?

Feel free to leave a comment - I love reading every single one :)

  1. Awww that beautiful baby bump! It makes me super broody. I really suffered with heartburn and I would always have gaviscon tablets or chew gum. I have heard eating banana can help!!! #SundayBest

  2. I miss seeing those outward kicks so much! Best feeling. No advice for heartburn I'm afraid as I was lucky enough to not have it, although I'm sure I've heard somewhere that mixing baking soda with water is effective x

  4. Definitely sounds like heartburn! I'm afraid no remedies to offer you- I was drinking gaviscon out of the bottle by the end, it got that bad, I stopped caring!
