We're doing it. We're taking our energetic little toddler onto a confined space with hundreds of other people that we can't escape from, aka an aeroplane. Just the idea of flying with a child has scared me so much I've avoided it up until now, staycations are my new holiday love. However when my husband surprised me at Christmas with an incredible holiday booked to Iceland I knew that my fear of flying with a toddler was about to be faced.
It's trying to keep Isabella entertained in a confined space for hours that petrifies me, so we're taking ALL the entertainment with us. I thought I'd share what a seriously nervous parent is taking for flying with her 22 month old toddler for the first time. I'll probably look back at this post in years to come and laugh at how much 'stuff' we took with us and that actually a pack of raisins and a colouring book would have been just fine. But preparation reduces stress, so I'm preparing like you wouldn't believe.

Children's magazine
Straws (to make drinking on a potentially bumpy flight easier)
Duo puzzle
Small books
Small pot of Play-doh and mini rolling pin
Small packet of wipes

Isabella never really watches cartoons, so I'm relying on the novelty keeping her entertained for a long while. We all know snacks will work, what we don't want is a constant stream of food resulting in one rather sick toddler. Our aeroplane seats will end up decorated with stickers, they get everywhere. I was brushing my hair the other day and found a rouge sticker in my hair! Oh this is going to be such an adventure.
