SUMMER: The Real Flower Petal Confetti Co. Flower Field

SUMMER: The Real Flower Petal Confetti Co. Flower Field
Each year The Real Flower Petal Confetti Co. open their colourful flower field to visitors for a very limited number of days. This year their flower field is open between the 29th June and the 8th July 2018, so time is of the essence when it comes to planning a visit. If you're looking for delicate yet pretty real flower petal confetti for a wedding or event then The Real Flower Petal Confetti Co. is the website to visit. To create their beautiful confetti they grow fields of colourful flowers on their farm in Wick, Worcestershire, which is what they open up to the public for 10 days a year. Offering a unique opportunity to be surrounded from head to toe in flowers of varying colours; the photographers dream.

This was our first year visiting and we were not disappointed. Whether you make a trip to appreciate the flowers, take all the photos or just as 'something to do', you will almost certainly not be disappointed. The combination of delphiniums and cornflowers is simply breathtaking. The seemingly endless flowers spread across a large field and the basic amenities within the field mean you aren't strolling around in the middle of nowhere. The facilities provided are: toilets (portable ones), tearoom marquee, flower stall, craft/art stall and seating under gazebos. There is also a tractor for children to sit on, which stands still but is a fun photo opportunity and a raised platform for photos of the flowers from above.
As the flower field is on a working farm the ground underfoot is very bumpy and muddy too. Although it hadn't been raining when we visited the ground was that dusty mud, which meant Isabella's white socks were white no more! Sensible shoes are recommended and I wouldn't say it was very pushchair friendly either. We just carried Poppy in our arms, but a carrier would be ideal.

There are a few paths through the middle of the flower field and you can walk around the outside too, which allows you to take all the photos anyone could want. I was surprised at how quiet it was, despite the fact it was the first day they were open when we visited and the sun was shining. I can imagine it is a lot busier at the weekends, so if you are able to visit in the week then I'd recommend it. It was very easy to get photos without people standing in the background, which was such a relief as I imagined that would be very tricky.

Entry is £2.50 for adults/children, with under 5's being free and I'd say it is a couple of hours of entertainment. If you take a slow stroll around the field, stop for a drink/slice of cake and take lots of photos you'll be certainly kept busy for a good few hours. You can also pick up a large bouquet of the flowers for only £5 (or some people were asking for double the size for £10), though be warned that the queues are long and slow because each one is handpicked and put together. I would say the bouquets are best if you're photographing them there and then or want to dry your own confetti because as soon as you get them home they start to drop their petals.
There is ample free car parking in the field next to the flower field, which is very convenient. Also, the field opens at 10am and closes at 5pm, with the last entry being at 4.30pm. If you live near the Cotswolds or are planning a visit during the time the flower field is open then why not spend a few hours being surrounded by natural beauty and taking all of the pretty pictures?
Have you visited the flower field before?

  4. I can't make it this year, but did lavender fields today instead. Such a shame it's a short opening time - next year I'll be planning my diary better (or making sure I've got more flexi time to take the ime off)
