ISABELLAS FAVOURITES: August 2015

As I was writing my own favourites of August I noticed I was actually including a number of Isabella's favourites. So I thought I would do her top five favourite things of August 2015, as it would be a nice way to document things that she enjoys as she grows older.
Isabella turned 4 months at the beginning of August, which I can hardly believe, and now i almost 5 months. Not far away from starting to wean and sit up on her own! These are Isabella's favourites for August...

1) Lindam Jump About Door Bouncer - My husband's sister kindly let us borrow her door bouncer and Isabella has been loving it. I didn't really consider getting a door bouncer, just because I had heard stories of people needing surgery when they're older because they spent so long in these type of baby products. However after discussing it with a Health Visitor she said that they are fine if used for a short amount of time and correctly. So we make sure that Isabella's feet can lay flat on the floor and that she's never in it for longer than five minutes. She's loved it when I put a bowl of warm water under her while she's bouncing around in the door bouncer. I'm also going to try rice krispies, foam and an emergency blanket underneath her for that added sensory experience.
2) Wooden Spoon - Sometimes the best toys are normal, everyday items and best of all cheap! I bought Isabella a wooden spoon to use with her drum because she couldn't get the whole thing in her mouth. A traditional drumstick would be too dangerous at the moment, as she'd no doubt try and get the whole thing in her mouth. She loves chewing on the spoon end of the wooden spoon, she's less interested in banging it on the drum though!
3) Cot - Isabella moved into her own room this month and she's been loving the space! Most nights and nap times she can be seen adopting the starfish sleeping position or twisting herself around the cot. She looks so grown up in her cot and going in to see her in the morning (or middle of the night) with lots of smiles is just the best!
4) Skip Hop Alphabet Zoo Activity Gym - We were kindly given this play gym as a gift from my Auntie when Isabella was first born. For months she didn't really interact with the hanging animals and just cried lay there when we put her on it. However over the past month or two she has been loving grabbing the animals, shaking the rattle monkey and looking the mirror during tummy time. It's so cute watching her play independently while developing her hand/eye coordination.
5) Julia Donaldson Books - Just before bedtime my husband always reads Isabella a book. She loves the illustrations in all of the Julia Donaldson books we have and even tries to help turn the pages now, so cute! I love reading books by Julia Donaldson because they rhyme, so they flow so nicely. We picked up 10 of her books from The Book People for £10 (this is a different collection but still only £9.99) - such a bargain!

What has your child/ren been enjoying this month?

  8. Julia Donaldson is one of my little ones favourite authors, and what's great is that they're books they can grow with. We get most of our son's books on The Book People - such amazing deals!
