CHRISTMAS GIFT GUIDE: For Children

The magic of Christmas is all about the children in our lives, making their wishes come true and spending quality time together. This was the easiest of all my Gift Guides to put together, simply because there are so many fantastic, fun gifts out there for children. These are my top picks for unique gifts for children...

Landscape Dinner Set from The Gift Oasis (£24.99) - If you're looking for quirky, unique gifts for the whole family then The Gift Oasis is the website for you. It's filled with original presents and everything has free delivery...added bonus! This Landscape Dinner Set is such a fun way of presenting food to children and because everything fits neatly onto the blue 'sky' tray it makes clearing the table for a meal easier. It comes with a sun shaped cup, cloud shaped snack pot, house shaped plate and tree shaped cutlery - everything children need to enjoy their meals!

Roll-Up Draw Mat by Les & Lou (£10 from amazon) - This clever mat is a multifunctional must-have item for keeping children entertained when out and about. One side is an oil cloth, wipeable placemat and the other is a reusable chalkboard that children can draw all over and use endless times. It's compact, so ideal for slipping into the changing bag/handbag when heading out for a meal, to the park or in the car.

Le Toy Van Honeybake Cookie Set (TV286 For ages 18+ months - £18 from Precious Little One) -If you're not familiar with Le Toy Van's products and you love wooden toys, then you definitely need to check out their website. Their range of wooden toys is so adorable and help support children role playing. There are arks, animals, kitchen accessories, dollshouses, planes, cars, pirate ships, play mats  and traditional toys to just name a few. The Honeybake range is one of my favourite from Le Toy Van - I think it's the baker in me! This Honeybake Cookie Set has everything children need to enjoy 'baking', including an oven mitt, rolling pin, cutters, chopping board, dough and cookie decorations. This set has also won an Independent Toy Award in the Role Play Category, therefore demonstrating its popularity with children.

Nanoblock Emperor Penguin (£14.99 from amazon) - Similar to Lego, though not the same or compatible, nanoblock uses micro building blocks to create small creatures. There are a wide range of nanoblock animals and buildings available, including: giraffes, Big Ben, giant panda, hippo, Tower Bridge, toucan etc. They're a fun alternative to Lego and take up a lot less space!

WOW Toys Farm Friends (£29.99 from Argos) - WOW Toys have an extensive variety of colourful toys that are built to last, as well as not requiring any batteries (thank goodness!). Their Farm Friends set has fourteen pieces, including a combination of motorised and push-along toys, helping children to enjoy an interactive farmyard role play scene. All is needed is their imagination and you've got hours of enjoyment. I really like that the toys are all quite chunky, so they're easier for little hands to hold. They have also created unique advent calendars for children, which include 24 toys that all combine to make a scene, such as farmyard, town or wonderland. Such a fun idea!

Janod Safari Train Set from The Wooden Toy Shack (£39.95) - How cute is this twist on a standard wooden train set? Janod have added a 33 piece safari themed train set with exotic animals, a rickety bridge, doctor and explorer. The quality is outstanding and the animals all have such character, if that's even possible for a wooden animal?! The steam locomotive and three carriages attach magnetically, allowing children to use any other magnetic trains they already have. The Wooden Toy Shack has a large hand-picked selection of carefully crafted, sustainable wooden toys from well loved brands such as Le Toy Van, Janod, Orange Tree, Tidlo and Pintoy. They also offer next day delivery when you order up until 3pm, so perfect for those last minute Christmas/birthday gifts!

Miles Kelly My Story and Rhyme Collection Bag (£24) - Reading has so many advantages for children, so giving the gift of books this Christmas is fun and constructive. Miles Kelly has an extensive array of beautifully illustrated children's books. The My Story and Rhyme Collection Bag from Miles Kelly contains 8 colourful books (worth £48!), each based around a popular nursery rhyme. Isabella loves it when I sing nursery rhymes, her favourite bring Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, so it's nice to have a book to support the words and actions. Older children will enjoy reading the nursery rhymes themselves, a lovely way of practising reading and singing together.

Sock Creatures Sock Elephant Kit in Bubblegum (£12) - One for children who love craft activities, this kit contains almost everything you need to make an adorable sock elephant...even some sweets as an extra treat! But if an elephant isn't what your child would like then there are lot's of other sock creatures to be made, such as a hedgehog, giraffe, puppy, crocodile, polar bear, monkey, penguin, monster, mouse, fox, butterfly etc. You can choose the design of sock your animal will be made out of: bubblegum mix, candy mix, woodland mix, tropical mix, rainbow mix or a Christmas sock. It's fantastic that there's so much choice available on the Sock Creatures website, allowing you to choose a creature your child will love.
