HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!
Hope
you all had fun welcoming in 2016 - I was fast asleep because the last
time I was up until 12am Isabella didn't sleep all night and it took me
over a week to recover from. Sensible and boring I know, but sleep is
precious!
What a busy festive month this December has been and once again it's passed in a flash. At the moment 2016 is a year that I'm not particularly looking forward to, as it sees my return to work and having to leave Isabella, but I'm determind to change this mindset and making it a positive year. Looking back on December has reminded me of all of the special memories that have been made and will continue to be made throughout January.
1) Countryside walks with my family - A couple of times this month we have wrapped up warm and just gone for a ramble around our local countryside. Isabella goes into the baby carrier, so she can see all of them animals and we are free to walk across as many fields and stiles as we like.

2) Christmas - I can't really have a December favourites and not
mention the wonderful time of the year that is Christmas. This year was
Isabella's first, which added that extra bit of excitement. We had a lovely
couple of days over Christmas, through trying to catch up with family/friends,
care for a teething Isabella, open/give presents and eat delicious food was a
bit of a challenge. I'm now exhausted and have been going to bed at 7pm!
Staying up for new year isn't looking hopeful...
3) The
Comforter Shower Cream by Lush - My favourite bubble bar from Lush is
The Comforter, so when I heard that they had come out with a shower cream
version it went straight onto my Christmas list. I was lucky enough to receive
it from my husband and have been obsessed ever since - it smells like ribena,
is bright pink and lathers up beautifully. Big thumbs up from me!
4) Advent calendar chocolate before breakfast - There's only one month of the year when it's totally acceptable to have chocolate before breakfast and I love it! Whenever I've fancied a little chocolate pick me up my advent calendar has been there waiting for me...not sure what I'm going to do in the new year?!
5) Boxing Day sale shopping - I have a love/hate relationship with shopping. I love shopping for Isabella and hate it for myself! So when the emails starting coming through all about the boxing day sales the adrenaline started pumping and alarms were set on my phone. So far I've done most of it online, but as the crowds die down I will have a browse around the shops too. I did most of the online shopping on Christmas Eve, which meant it was out of the way and I could completely focus on Christmas. I much prefer it when shops start then rather than boxing day.
6) Mulled wine - Last year I was stuck on non-alcoholic versions of mulled wine and it just wasn't the same. So this year I've been making the most of not being pregnant and enjoying a glass or two of warm mulled wine after Isabella has gone to bed.
7) Pottery painting evening with friends - The ladies in our NCT class organised to go for an evening of pottery painting, takeaways and wine...all without the babies. I've been pottery painting with Isabella numerous times, putting her foot/handprints on everything I possibly can, but it's not without it's challenges. Painting on the extra detail while trying to keep her entertained is always hard, so the chance to spend an evening painting pottery with only adult company was a lovely change.
8) Board games - If there is a month where the board games should be cracked out it's December. We've played Scrabble and Uno the most - I usually win at Uno but always lose at Scrabble (even with a couple of sneaky word checks on my phone!)
9) Focus - I so rarely watch films these days, but will make time for a gripping action number starring Will Smith. Focus is about being a con artist and is gripping from the start, with the constant question of who's conning who? It's just come onto Sky Movies if you have it and fancy a watch.
10) Vlogmas - I've been loving having so many new YouTube videos to watch everyday throughout December. Whenever Isabella naps I've been taking the chance to watch as many Vlogmas videos as I can. There have been so many funny, heart warming and festive videos - some of my favourites have been Lily Pebbles, Fleur de Force, The Michalaks and Tanya Burr.

ReplyDeleteI've been loving the Christmas TV (compared to last years it's been amazing) and also the early nights as that has meant we can put the Christmas lights on.
ReplyDeleteHappy New year! I didn't have any mulled wine this year no idea how that happened! xx #thelist
ReplyDeleteYou are lucky having a baby that sleeps. My little 11 month old refuses her naps and gets so tired poor thing. I too have enjoyed vlogmas but haven't seen the people you mention vts so I'll have to check them out. #thelist
ReplyDeleteLove a good monthly faves post, I might have to give it a go this year. I am really missing Vlogmas, I got right into the habit of watching the daily vlogs. x
