REVIEW: Braun No Touch and Forehead Thermometer

Looking after a poorly child is not only worrying, but also exhausting and the winter months are often the worst time for colds/coughs/fevers. We've been relatively lucky with Isabella, she's only had 3 colds since she was born. Not too bad considering children usually catch between 8-12 colds a year! When it comes to colds and teething the aspect I find the most worrying is keeping an eye on Isabella's temperature.
There have been days when all she wants to do is cuddle, at which point I know something is wrong as she's usually too busy exploring. Taking Isabella's temperature wasn't the easiest task - she'd always fidget or want to see what I was trying to put in her ear - that was before we started using the Braun No Touch + Forehead Thermometer NTF3000* (£52.99 - currently on sale for £42.99 at Boots).
To make it even clearer to parents whether their child has a high temperature Braun have also included a colour coded display. The screen will turn green for a normal temperature, yellow for an elevated temperature and red for a high temperature. It couldn't be more simple, quick and easy to use - allowing you to focus on caring for your child.
Regularly monitoring Isabella's temperature when she has a fever is important, but not always the easiest task. She may be sleeping, irritable and/or uncooperative, all of which make taking her temperature accurately very difficult. The No Touch + Forehead aspect of the latest Braun thermometer makes it so much easier - all you have to do is hold it 5cm away from in the 'no touch' mode and you'll have an accurate reading in less than two seconds. I've used this technique for when Isabella is asleep and I want to check her temperature or when she's snuggled into me and I don't want to disturb her (no one wants to disturb a resting poorly baby!) I have then used the touch mode on Isabella's forehead when she's awake, I love that this one thermometer has both functions available.

^I like that if you don't hold the thermometer in the correct place it will tell you there's an error. There's no false readings. ^
The No Touch function is also perfect if you have more than one child because it allows you to take the temperature of the whole family while limiting the spread of germs and eliminating the possibility of cross contamination amongst family members. Any way of reducing the spread of illnesses is a winner in my eyes!

  1. You've photographed this product really well. Looks handy for young babies but quite expensive? #MMWBH

  2. We have had such a rough couple of weeks with lexie being poorly recently and she's had a scarily high temperature. One thing that I know for sure is that I need to invest in a decent thermometer and this looks like the one for me. Thank you for the great review, I am definitely getting one of these! #sharewithme

  3. I love the sound of this - we have an in-ear one (which was pretty pricey too if I remember) but my son hates having it in his ear. Like the idea of the pre-sets for age and the colour coding too - sounds like a great gadget! #ShareWithMe

  6. This is such a great idea. I always really struggle to take my 14 month old daughter's temperature as she's far too curious! I would definitely invest in one of these, it is expensive but I'm sure you'll get good use out of it over the years #sharewithme

  7. OH I love Braun and I think this one is a must have with babies and little ones. So much easier than trying to keep it in their ear until it beeps. Great idea and great review. Thanks for linking up to Share With Me. #sharewithme
