New York - Concrete jungle where dreams are made of, there's nothing you can't do now you're in New York (sang beautifully just like Alicia Keys). Personally, being in New York does give me a sense of 'anything can happen here'. Like most cities it's filled with endless adventures, opportunities and experiences but there's something extra when you're in New York. It's an incredible place to visit and if you ever get a chance to then I'd highly recommend grabbing it with both hands.
A lot of tourists head to Central Manhattan, as it's a hub of activtiy and tourist attractions, but I wouldn't discount Lower Manhattan as your base either. It's quieter, more affordable and just as quirky. The Nolitan is a boutique luxury hotel based in Nolita in the North of Little Italy (I've never seen so many Italian restaurants in such a small place.) On our honeymoon we stayed in the Neighbourhood Corner room, which has a beautiful open plan bathroom/bedroom, king size bed, floor-to-ceiling windows and a rain shower. The hotel is filled with luxurious touches, friendly staff and stunning views of Central Manhattan. The roof top sundeck is the place to be when the sun is setting, talk about the perfect place to reflect, appreciate and relax. That's one thing I love about staying in Lower Manhattan, you get to appreciate to New York skyline from a whole new angle.
Using
The Nolitan as a base means you can head West into trendy SoHo and
Tribeca, South to Battery Park or North to East Village and Greenwich
Village.
What to do in Lower Manhattan?
Take the free Staten Island Ferry for breathtaking views of New York's skyline
Where to eat near The Nolitan?
Tacombi - Incredible Mexican food
The Butcher's Daughter - Juice Bar & Cafe opposite The Nolitan
Lomardi's Pizza - Delicious pizza's in the oldest pizza restaurant in NYC
12 Chairs Cafe - Bringing Middle East flavours to Eastern European cuisine
Balthazar - Traditional bistro fare from breakfast to late-night supper
