Babies are such a joy to buy for, aren't they? The clothing is so teeny, the prints are adorable and the range of gifts is always growing. This year we are back to the world of babies with Rory's arrival in October, which is incredibly precious. As babies don't really need that much, in terms of toys, I always think Christmas is the perfect opportunity to treat the babies in your life to extra luxurious versions of what would usually be considered as 'essentials', for example muslin cloths and clothes. There are lots of lovely smaller businesses to support when it comes to buying gifts for babies too, some of which I've included in this Gift Guide. I hope you feel inspired and come away with lots of gift ideas.
Stargazing Bear Swaddle Blankets from The Little Art Collection (£27.50) - The Little Art Collection was started back in 2017 by the lovely mum of two Pippa, who saw a gap in the market for beautiful, practical and luxurious baby essentials featuring prints created by aspiring British-based artists. The Stargazing Bear 'North Star' illustrations was created in partnership with Pippa by artist Lucy Gander and is a new addition to the stunning pattern range available from The Little Art Collection. This beautiful 100% bamboo muslin swaddle blanket is silky soft, thermo-regulating, breathable, highly absorbent, pesticide-free, OKEOTEX certified, suitable from birth and are made in Britain. What's not to love?! It is also incredibly versatile with an impressively large 120cm x 120cm size that can be used as an extra-large swaddle, cot liner, breastfeeding covers, changing mat liners, pram liners etc.
Space Age Rocket Night Light (£5.95) and Moon Planet Night Light (£4.95) from Rex London - Setting a calming and peaceful environment in a baby or child's bedroom is so important for supporting sleep. Night lights are a really easy way to do this and Rex London have a beautiful range of creatures, figures and themed night lights that complement any bedroom. They are also battery powered giving you complete flexibility as to where you want to have them within a room and are especially handy for lighting up areas where there aren't any plug sockets. These Space Age Rocket and Moon Planet Night Lights provide a warm glow that is calming for any age.
Sky Train Babygrow (£21), Night Sky Rockets Two Pack Baby Body Set (£22) and Higher Ground Blanket (£35) from Little Green Radicals - Each season Little Green Radicals bring out a stunning new collection of baby and children's clothing and this autumn/winter is no different. Every time I see their latest collection it becomes my favourite; they consistently create beautiful designs, fun patterns and have such important ethics right at the heart of their business. All of their clothing is 100% organic and always Fairtrade, meaning that all of their farmers in India get a fair price for their cotton. The Little Green Radicals autumn/winter '19 Collection is called 'Mountains of Adventure', so you can expect hot air balloons, camping, wild animals, rockets, blossom and star gazers within their patterns. The Sky Train Babygrow has poppers down the middle for easy dressing, footed for keeping feet warm, sized to fit both cloth and disposable nappies, unisex and is machine washable. Also, the Night Sky Rockets Two Pack of Long-Sleeved Vests are ideal for keeping little ones warm over winter, as they have an envelope neck, poppers at leg opening for easy dressing, wash really well, sized to fit both cloth and disposable nappies and are really soft. Whether you're on an outdoor adventure or snuggling on the sofa, a cosy blanket is a must when you have a baby during the autumn/winter months. The extra-large Higher Ground Blanket couldn't be more perfect with its colourful hot air balloon design on one side and a breathable, soft organic Sherpa on the other side, making it extra snuggly.
Classic Milestone Plaques from Rosie Meringue (£30) - Rosie is the lovely lady behind Rosie Meringue; as a graphic designer, who has a love for all things plywood, Rosie creates the most stunning collection of home accessories, gifts and plaques that really stand out within any room. The stylish designs offer a classic and timeless addition to your home, as well as making such thoughtful gifts this Christmas. The Classic Milestone Plaques have just been redesigned and I'm completely in love with them! The set contains sixteen raw birch plywood milestone plaques, including one day, one week old, two weeks old, three weeks old, one month old, two months old...all the way to twelve months old. Taking weekly and then monthly photographs of your baby is such a special way to capture how much they change/grow over the first year of their life, but remembering how old they were in each photo can be hard. By putting one of these milestone plaques next to your baby it makes looking back easier and as they are wooden they're ideal for passing down throughout your family or passing onto friends once your baby is older than one.
Cashmere Blend Little Lamb Babygrow (£34) and Cashmere Blend Cardigan in Pale Grey (£34) from albetta - If you're looking for that extra special piece of clothing to give as a gift or treat your little one too then look no further than albetta. Their premium range has some of the softest and most adorable babygrows you'll come across, as they are made from a practical blend of cashmere and cotton. The cashmere makes them incredibly snuggly and soft, but the cotton allows them to be machine washable, which we all know is really an essential as a parent. This Little Lamb Babygrow is unisex, is fastened with three buttons on the shoulder and poppers on the legs, making it the perfect gift for any baby. To keep babies extra cosy this winter you can also find a beautiful hand knitted matching Cashmere Blend Cardigan in Pale Grey that works perfectly as an extra layer on those particularly cold days. The versatile unisex design means that it can be worn with such a vast range of outfits and will soon become an item of clothing you won't want to leave the house without.
Grey Pom Pom Belly Basket from Rex London (£25) - Babies and then children are renowned for seemingly having endless 'things', from muslin cloths to toys to blankets to clothing. Finding somewhere to store all of these things is essential, which is where the Grey Pom Pom Belly Basket from Rex London comes in. Its stylish design and neutral colour palette makes it a storage solution that would suit any nursery. You can either have it completely expanded like is shown below or have the bottom half folded in so that it is more of a display piece. The four grey shaded pom poms on either side of the basket add a pretty touch to an practical solution. You can also get this basket with Pink Pom Poms, if that suits your colour palette better.
Santa Surprise Bundle from Nuby (£25) - The contents of this bundle is exactly what you'd expect by it's name...a surprise. You can select either a 0-12 months boy/girl or 12 months+ boy/girl and that is where the options end and the fun surprise begins. All you know when ordering a Santa Surprise Bundle is that the contents will be worth £50, so impressively double the amount you pay, and that there will be a fun, bright toy for playtime, colourful practical eating/drinking solution and the rest is left as a surprise. All of the products included are from Nuby and BPA free, so you know they will be high quality and baby-friendly. Below you can see the contents of the 0-12 month Boy Santa Surprise Bundle I was sent, but this isn't necessarily exactly the same contents you would receive.
Mi 1st Bath Buddy - Aqua Frog from Minene (£26 - use code 'HJLxmas15' for 15% off everything, except sale) - If you've not come across the Mi 1st Bath Buddy before then it could quite possibly change your parenting bath time life. This newborn bath support is the perfect shape for babies to be safe and secure while floating around in the bath, baby bath, sink or even in the shower. It's incredibly versatile and innovative, making it really stand out. The quick dry fabric and hook to further enable quick drying means that you aren't left with something soggy to store after every bath time. It is designed for 0-8 months, comes in three fun animal designs and five colours, including Green Frog, Pink Kitty and Pink Owl. As you can see Rory absolutely loves it, especially when floating around in the bath.
3x Teething Bandana Bibs from Nuby (£5.99) - Teething is such a harsh milestone for babies to go through and more often than not it is paired with lots of dribble, chewing and discomfort. These Nuby's bibs are ideal for teething babies due to their teething corner to soothe sore gums, soft absorbent cotton, secure Velcro fastening and coming in a pack of three. Giving the gift of comfort to a teething baby is perhaps one of the best gifts you could give this Christmas.
I have also put together a range of other gift guides aimed at the whole family, including the all important parents in your life and stocking fillers for children that are £10 and under.
Do you have any babies to buy for this year?
