Eyelashes and Mascara's...

As I explained in the Clinique High Lengths Review post (see here) I always thought that mascara's couldn't ACTUALLY make your eyelashes longer, have more volume or thicker BUT it seems they can! Who would have thought?! So since finding this amazing fact out I have started trying out loads of different kinds of mascara's. Each new mascara that comes to market seems to claim a brand new attribute it can add to your eyelashes, but really how many different ways can our eyelashes be enhanced? So I decided to try all the mascara's I have and take a photo at the same angle to try and see what a difference each mascara made to my eyelashes.

As a reference these are my natural eyelashes with no mascara on...

The results are here to see plain and clear - no enhancements, no photo shop, no false eyelashes. I hope this helps you make an informed decision when buying mascara's and enable you to see the different looks a variety of mascara's can achieve...

Maybelline the Colossal Volum' Express Mascara

Maybelline

Maxfactor False Lash Effect Mascara

Collection 2000 Skyscraper Mascara

Benefit Bad Gal Lash

Bobbi Brown Extreme Party Mascara

Clinique High Lengths Mascara

Maybelline the Falsies Volum' Express Mascara

There is defiantly a difference between my natural eyelashes and with mascara on. There are also slight difference between these mascara's but not as much as you may think there would be. This selection of mascara's range from high street prices to more expensive prices, therefore showing the results within a range of budgets.

What do you think?

Can you see any big differences?

I'd love to hear what you think :)

Clinique High Lengths Mascara Review

Last year Clinique ran an offer, in which you could swap ANY mascara and receive a sample size Clinique mascara, how brilliant! I exchanged an old, empty 17 mascara and chose the '01 Black High Lengths Mascara' to try out. It totally transformed my view on mascara, I had always thought 'how can a mascara really make your eyelashes look any different?'. As I had this attitude I never tried other mascara's out, but this offer from Clinique gave me the perfect excuse to try another mascara.

Well, the 'Clinique 01 Black High Lengths Mascara' opened my eyes to how different mascara REALLY can make your eyelashes look longer! It makes my eyelashes look so much longer than they actually are, without any clumping. It doesn't give volume, so if that is what you look for in a mascara this isn't the one for you. As I fell in love with this mascara the sample size soon ran out and with a £16 price tag I certainly wasn't going to spend that much on a mascara! However with some hunting around, including Duty-Free and outlet stores I managed to find it for approximately £13 in a beauty outlet centre in Swindon. Still quite expensive, so with my birthday coming up I asked for it and was lucky enough to receive it! And I've just received my second Clinique mascara for Christmas this year! If you get a chance to try this mascara out I'd highly recommend it!

Max factor False Lash Effect Mascara Review

A couple of weeks before Christmas I was lucky enough to win a bundle of Max factor Make Up Goodies from their Twitter page. Max factor False Lash Effect Mascara was included in these goodies, I was excited to try this product out! I have heard great things about it but hadn't got around to buying it, to try it out.

I wear mascara nearly every day but try to have a break every now and again because I find that when I don't my eyelashes break easily and get really short. Having said that, for special occasions I layer up the mascara to make my eyelashes look really long and full of volume!

My work Christmas party was a perfect opportunity to try out the Max factor False Lash Effect mascara! The first thing I noticed was that the mascara brush was very 'thick', it means that you can roll the it around your eyelashes, which coats them really well. This helps to create longer eyelashes and therefore the false eye lash effect but still keeping a natural look!

I was impressed with the consistency of the mascara, it wasn't clumpy or too runny! It coated my lashes evenly and with ease, which is a refreshing change from some other mascaras that create lumps almost instantly!

Here's what the mascara looked like with 2 coats:
