HOLIDAY: Honeydew Cottage, Annies Cafe and Going Home ❤️

The final day of our holiday was mostly spent driving home, though we did have an eventful trip into Cheltenham and visit a lovely cafe in Kilkhampton, near Bude. I love a good road trip and we've been really lucky as Isabella doesn't seem to mind a longer journey in the car. We spent the morning packing up our things, tidying the cottage and filling the car to within an inch of its life. Just before we left Kilkhampton we visited Annie's Cafe for breakfast, which was in the village. I love supporting local companies and they are often such lovely places to eat. My husband had a cooked breakfast and I had cheesey beans on toast - delicious! If you're in the area I'd recommend a visit to Annie's Cafe.

Now, I'm usually one of those people who runs around taking photo's of a new place, but that's going to have to change now I have a baby. As soon as we arrived at the cottage, at the beginning of the holiday, Isabella needed feeding/changing and then the online food order arrived - so no time for photo's! The pictures of the cottage below were taken at the end of the holiday, in case you were wandering why it looks so 'lived in'. We found Honeydew Cottage on the holidaycottages website and then again on the Stay in Cornwall website - it was child friendly, located in a village with amenities and not too far away from the beach. The exterior of the cottage lets it down a bit, it just needs a lick of paint, clean windows and the garden sorted out, which was a bit of a shame. However, when we entered the cottage we were so impressed with the style of the interior - nothing like the outside. The downstairs living/dining area is open plan, with beams, a wood burner and plenty of toys/board games and books for all ages. The kitchen is well equipped for a holiday cottage, with a big fridge/freezer, the important microwave for sterilising bottles and even a washing machine. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, both of which sleep two people and a bathroom with a bath and separate shower. We don't have a shower at our house, so that was a complete luxury and so much easier/quicker to get ready in the morning! We were so impressed with Honeydew Cottage and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a child friendly place to stay in Cornwall.

  1. I lived in the UK until I was 8 and never once remember going on holiday. We'd go to London to see family, but that's it. When I lived in Bangladesh, our standard holiday location was Singapore, but we had family there too. You're reminding me to make the most of the time I have left before my girls are grown and gone to have a family holiday, just the three of us. We did take a lovely 9 day road trip last summer, but there was (suprise) family at the end of it. I suppose that's what comes of my parents having 14 siblings between them.

  2. Beautiful post. I love Cornwall so much, it's beautiful, family friendly and there's so much to discover, I'm lucky because my mum lives down there in a lovely cottage in the grounds of an old abbey, so we can have free holidays! But the drive down from where I live is soooo long. Looks like you had fun xx
