REVIEW: Cocoon Car Seat Blanket

There aren't many baby products that excite me as much as the Cocoon Car Seat Blanket by Cocoon babies - the concept, design and simple yet genius aspects of this products makes it a must have item for autumn/winter! As the weather gets colder we have to start thinking about keeping our babies warm enough, as well as keeping them safe.

We have bought Isabella a snowsuit and a coat, so that we have all bases covered depending on the temperature outside. I wouldn't have put Isabella in a snowsuit and then into her car seat, but not for the most important reason I have now learnt. I thought it would be dangerous because there's a risk she could overheat, which there is.

However, perhaps more importantly, it is dangerous to not have the car seat straps as close to your babies body as possible. This is because if your car is travelling at 30mph, then all of the people in the car are also travelling at 30mph. Consequently, if the car seat straps aren't snug to your baby then their body will travel at 30mph in the gap between their body and the straps. The potential for injury is upsetting to think about it, so I think it's a given that parents wouldn't want to put their children in danger.

The Cocoon Car Seat Blanket* (£29.99) solves this issue - keeping your baby safe and warm. It is essentially a blanket with three holes in for the straps of a car seat, but at the same time it's so much more than that! Some of the key features of the Cocoon Blanket are...
  • Suitable for all 0 – 9 month 3-prong car seats.
  • Can be used when car seat is in the car or on the buggy frame.
  • 4 easily accessible buttons making it quick and simple to open and close.
  • The wool exterior will ensure baby remains warm during the cold winter months.
  • Soft fleece lining adds to the warmth and provides a soft touch to babies skin.
  • If on a long car journey or car seat is brought inside, open up the Cocoon without disturbing baby.
  • The Cocoon is fully washable should accidents happen.

It was really easy to put into the car seat and I like the fact that you don't have to do it up if the weather suddenly warms up. Isabella loved the snuggly inside of the Cocoon and being all wrapped up when asleep/just waking up. As Isabella is now 6 months, she is keen to be playing with toys while in the car seat on the pushchair so I didn't button up the Cocoon. Instead I gently wrapped it around her legs and left her arms free. If she was a bit younger she would have LOVED being wrapped up, as it is a loose kind of swaddle. This would be an ideal and unique gift for anyone who has just had a baby or is due during these cooler months.
You can choose between a red, pink or blue lining - we chose red as it matches our pushchair perfectly! I honestly can't speak highly enough of the Cocoon Car Seat Blanket and think it would make just the perfect baby shower/Christmas gift for new or expecting parents.

What is your favourite feature of the Cocoon Blanket?

  2. What a brilliant idea! Gets rid of the blankets that always slide off of them and get dirty when you're out and about as well. I wish this had been around when my boys were small! Thanks for linking up to #Picknmix
