TODDLER CRAFT: Egg Carton Flowers

Now that we're into winter flowers are depleted in numbers, that is until we all get our toddlers to make egg carton ones! This craft activity is a fun one for a rainy day - I've got into the habit of saving all toilet/kitchen roll tubes, egg boxes etc. so no rainy day is left without resources. You could make a few of these to create a bunch of flowers or use them to collect natural objects outside when the sun shines again. Isabella loved filled the sections with little pebbles, but then again that girl loves little pebbles.
What you'll need:
Egg carton
Scissors
Glue gun (mine is from Hobbycraft) or superglue
Paint
Paint brushes
Paper straws
Pom Poms

What to do:
1) Cut four sections of the egg carton out as on and then trim around the outside to create more of a flower shape.
2) Decide what colours you're going to paint the flower and start painting.
3) Once it's painted to the best of your toddler's ability leave it to dry completely. Then use the heated up glue gun to stick a pom pom into the middle of the flower.
4) Next, again using the glue gun, attach the straw onto the back of the flower. Leave it to cool. Ensure there is plenty of glue to secure the straw properly.
5) Then your little one can use the flower as they wish - perhaps planted into a play-doh garden, or used to collect little objects, or make a bunch for a lucky someone or to decorate their bedroom etc.
What's your favourite craft activity?

Feel free to leave a comment - I love reading every single one :)

  2. So cute! I've pinned the same idea from elsewhere but never seem to have any egg boxes - now, if I could find simple toddler activities for the billion of toilet roll tubes we seem to accumulate every week, I'd be sorted!
