FAMILY DAY OUT: Kelmarsh Hall & Gardens with a Spring Wardrobe from Little Green Radicals

FAMILY DAY OUT: Kelmarsh Hall & Gardens with a Spring Wardrobe from Little Green Radicals
We're finally in spring and it won't be long before summer makes an appearance too, so it's the perfect time to prepare Isabella and Poppy's wardrobe in time for the warm weather. During the recent stretch of beautiful warm weather we made the most of it and headed to Kelmarsh Hall & Gardens in Northamptonshire. Kelmarsh Hall is a Grade I listed country house built in 1732, set in the most stunning gardens. The Gardens include a beautiful array of flowers, tress and shrubbery all set in a large walled garden, as well as around the Estate. It is the perfect day out as a family because there is plenty of space to run around and most of the gardens are pushchair friendly too (aside from a few steps to get down to the gardens).
We've never visited the house, but from the exterior it looks very impressive. I look forward to the day when our children are old enough to enjoy exploring old houses too, but for now we stick to the open space of the gardens. There is also a tearooms that serves sandwiches, cakes and jacket potatoes, but the real selling point is the seating outside amongst the flowers and scenery.
Despite visiting during the middle of April there were already quite a few colourful flowers growing, but if you want to see the gardens in their prime then it is worth visiting in the summer months. The positive of it being so early in the season is that we had pretty much the whole gardens to ourselves. We did also arrive at opening time, so that will have helped too. Kelmarsh Hall & Gardens isn't open everyday, so it is worth checking their website for current opening times before visiting.
The sun, pretty gardens and warm weather made it the perfect time for Isabella and Poppy to wear their new Little Green Radicals outfits from their Spring/Summer 2018 collection. We have been big fans of Little Green Radicals for years now (see a very young Isabella modelling their S/S '16 collection here), so it was very exciting when they kindly offered to send the girls a few pieces from their latest collection. As with every Little Green Radicals collection the attention to detail that goes into not only the designs, but also the patterns and colour palette is evident straight away. Their focus for this season was the watery world of migrating birds, jumping frogs, origami boats and botanical inspired prints.
Little Green Radicals only uses 100% Fairtrade Organic Cotton, so you know that there are no nasty chemicals going near your children's skin, but also that the cotton farmers are getting a fair wage too. This is an aspect of Little Green Radicals that I love and that really makes them stand out within the children's clothing market in my opinion.
When it came to choosing some spring/summer pieces for Isabella and Poppy I fell in love with the Botanical pattern that features across a number of their clothing pieces. The dainty floral print is so beautiful and the combination of colours make it easy to match with other items too. As I love dressing the girls in matching clothes or partially matching I thought it would look really cute if they both had something including this pattern. For Poppy I went for the Botanical Summer Days Dress (£25) with the Pointelle Waterfall Cardigan (£21) to match the flecks of turquoise throughout the dress. The dress is such good quality fabric and because it's cotton it makes is perfect for keeping cool on those warmer days. Poppy is 10 months at the moment, but I went for 12-18 months so that she can wear it all summer long. As you can see it isn't really big on her, yet there is some growing room, just incase you have a similar aged baby and were wandering about sizing. The cardigan is pointelle, which I absolutely love in children's clothing. It's so classic and adds a subtle level of detail that makes the cardigan unique.
For Isabella I went for the Pointelle Waterfall Cardigan too, so that they matched and it also complimented the colouring in the Botanical pattern again. To match Poppy's dress I choose the Botanical Falling Water Top (£20), which has ruffle detailing on either side that is simply beautiful. It's one of those tops that can be dressed down for a day at the park or beach, but also be dressed up for a party. I find that having at least one of these kind of tops in Isabella's wardrobe is essential, after all she has a busier social life than me! To go with the top I went for the Gold Pinafore Dress (£30), mainly because of the adorable pattern on the inside of the dress but also because pinafore dresses are a staple in Isabella's wardrobe. I just love how easy they are to pair with a range of tops, can easily change between seasons/weather conditions by wearing a long/short sleeved top underneath and the classic, slightly vintage feel about them. The cross-over straps on the back didn't fall down like so many other branded ones we've had in the past and this is probably due to the fact that the waist and straps are adjustable. It is made from hardwearing twill 100% organic Fairtrade cotton, so reassuring is designed for the busy world of playing.
There are so many other beautiful pieces in the Little Green Radicals Spring/Summer '18 Collection, including this Pinafore dress in different colours and the cutest Bubble Bodies for babies.

Which is your favourite piece from the LGR S/S '18 Collection?

Feel free to leave a comment - I love reading every single one :)
