Established in 1936 Samuel Johnston Ltd is a pram specialist that has grown to become one of Europe's leading online Nursery, Pram and Baby Equipment retailers. They have a range of over 80 top nursery brands and are therefore the home of everything you could possibly need for when your little one arrives and into those first few years of life. On our recent family holiday to Copenhagen we had the pleasure of taking the JANE Rocket Stroller (£199) from Samuel Johnston with us. It is a compact stroller that is lightweight, urban and fully-folding, whilst still having a quality finish. Travelling around with small children can be quite intimidating because space is often limited, whether that be with hand luggage allowance of car boot space, and this can make getting children around safely a bit trickier.
The JANE Rocket is available in Jet Black (seen here) or Red and is the practical answer to limited space, travel and/or city life. It's compact folded size (49 x 56 x 28cm) and 6.4kg lightweight aluminium chassis makes it easy to carry around, store at home or in the car and quickly folding away when visiting a restaurant, cinema, museum etc. It is suitable from birth all the way to 22kg because it has an adjustable back rest and foot rest for optimal comfort. The seat lies almost completely flat and a feature we especially found useful for long days walking around Copenhagen was the 2-position maximum protection hood, protecting against UV radiation 50 UPF, water and wind (though there is a rain cover included too). The second position of the protection hood hooks onto the protector bar to create a dark calm environment for sleeping. There were a couple of occasions during our holiday where we snuggled Poppy down in the Jane Rocket, lowered the protection hood completely and she quite happily either fell asleep or had a much needed rest in peace.
To further support a smooth ride for children this stroller has all round suspension, adjustable footrest and comfortable dual linked footbrake. There are also many features built in to make our life as parents that bit easier, including the one hand folding, the fact it automatically locks when folded and there is a handy storage pocket at the back. Although the basket underneath the seat is a good size I do have to say it isn't the easiest to get things into because of the raised sides surrounding it. It does help to ensure items don't fall out, but we struggled to fit a bag of things in there so instead opted for individual items like coats etc.
For a compact stroller option the Jane Rocket does feel very substantial and the perfect option if your child is already that bit older, like Poppy is (she's currently 21 months). The stylish design, clever features and compact size make it the ideal solution for families who are looking to free up space in their car boot, planning on travelling abroad, have limited space at home or simply want a stroller that has many of the more complex features that are often found on expensive travel systems.
On our recent family holiday to Copenhagen we took the Jane Rocket with us and were seriously impressed with it. It handled the cobbled streets of Copenhagen with ease, was sturdy enough for Isabella to sit in when her feet got tired, both Isabella and Poppy napped in it at different times (which never usually happens!) and the storage basket was big enough for everything we wanted to carry around. The only slight issue with the Rocket is that it is a bit tricky when going up curbs or over pot holes. You really do have to try and avoid pot holes and push down on the handlebar to raise the front wheels when going up curbs. Once we got used to doing it we were doing it without thinking, but it something worth noting.
Just prior to going to Copenhagen my cousin came over with her two children and saw the JANE Rocket waiting to be whisked off on holiday with us. She was instantly impressed with the design and style of it and after hearing about how we got on with it in Copenhagen she has ordered one for her holiday abroad in the summer. I think that just shows has impressive this pushchair is and why I would recommend it if you're currently looking for a lightweight, compact stroller.

I am definitely loving the style of it and the compactness too, its nice to have a stroller than you can easily take traveling with you.
ReplyDeleteIt is a good looking buggy. I had a Jane years ago now, I bought it second hand and I loved it as it had a handbrake on the handle.
ReplyDeleteThis is really helpful, we are going to Holland in the summer and space in the car will be tight. I've been researching lightweight and compact pushchairs so will definitely look more into this. I like the fact it's compact but still looks sturdy and comfy.
ReplyDeleteThere seem to be so many great lightweight stroller options around these days, I feel we didn't have that much choice when my boys were babies. This one looks really stylish.
ReplyDeleteOh this one looks brilliant, super lightweight but very stylish at the same time. I love how the sun shade works
ReplyDeleteLooks and sounds amazing, I love that it lies flat and that hood looks so good for shading little one. Copenhagen looks beautiful, hope you had a lovely time xx

This looks very handy and convenient for travelling and it's such an elegant design too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice looking push chair (especially the handles). I love the name of it too!! Looks perfect for taking out and about on travels.
ReplyDeleteI’m looking for a new stroller for my son. He is 4 years old, would you recommend this stroller for that age?
ReplyDeleteI have to say that this stroller is aimed at children that are younger than four years old because of it's lightweight/compact properties, so probably isn't the best option for a 4 year old I'm afraid. x
DeleteWould you recommend this for camping? What is is like on rough ground? Thanks
ReplyDeleteIt dealt well with the cobbled streets, but I'm not sure how well it would push over grass. Hope that helps :)
