REVIEW: March Degustabox

Firstly, apologies for this being a bit late - due to the birth of our beautiful daughter I've been pretty busy in the past month, so not had the time to get this post written up. Nevertheless it's here now...

Ok, so I thought the February Degustabox was good but the March box is my absolute favourite so far (and my husbands too). If you want some midweek excitement and you love food, then receiving a Degustabox through the post is just what you need. Opening the box and exploring its contents is so much fun, especially when it's filled with goodies you've wanted to try or never seen before!

Maynards Sour Patch Kids - £1
My husband is the biggest sweet lover I've ever met, he just loves anything high in sugar and if it's mixed with a sour kick then even better. These sweets were snapped up by him and begrudgingly shared with me. They are DELICIOUS. They have that mouth watering sour effect, making you just want more!

Bassetts Jelly Babies Berry Mix - £1.48
I'll give you a guess who had their eyes on these too?! I'm actually not such a Jelly Babies fan, but these sweets contain fruit juice, as well as natural colours and flavours. This resulted in them not being tainted by a fake 'berry' flavour, instead they were actually pretty moreish.

Green Tea with Mandarin and Ginseng
I'm not really into these green tea cold drinks, though I know how popular they are. Green tea has numerous benefits for our bodies and being able to drink it cold in various flavours can make it more edible. I know a lot of people who want to drink green tea for it's goodness but can't stomach the hot version. This drink is perfect for you if you're one of these people!

Crabbie's Fruits Black Cherry and Raspberry & Rhubarb - £1.50 each
As I'm only just not pregnant I haven't been able to try these, but they are in the fridge waiting patiently. I love these kind of drinks over the summer months - ice cold, sunny garden and great friends - a winning mix.

Juice Burst Skinny Mango & Lime and Juice Burst Cranberry - £1.25 each
These have been a lovely change from the mass amount of water I've been drinking recently. Since being heavily pregnant I've found that drinking bubbles hasn't agreed with me, so I've been avoiding them. This has basically meant all I've drank is water, which I do love but isn't particularly exciting. These juice drinks are flat and flavoursome - perfect.

Pasquier Baked Bread Bites in Bacon Flavour - £0.50 each
I got seriously excited when I saw these - strangely enough one of my favourite flavours for crisps is smokey bacon. I say strangely enough because I'm a vegetarian and have been for the majority of my life! However some smokey bacon crisps actually have meat in, meaning I can't have them. These little crouton goodies ARE vegetarian and very tasty!

Natvia  Sweetener - £2
I actually reviewed this product on my blog back in March last year, it's fantastic. A zero calorie sweetener that has the consistency of sugar and is 100% natural! What's there not to like?

Kents Kitchen Posh Noodles Spicy Szechuan - £1.75
An instant noodle pot that makes lunch easy and flavoursome. At only 222 calories it's also good for anyone watching what they're eating, I always find noodles very filling!

Lindt Lindor x2 - £2 each
With Easter just around the corner it wouldn't have been right for there not to have been something 'Eastery' in the March Degustabox. These mini Easter eggs are in white, milk and dark chocolate with the smooth filling Lindt Lindor is so well known for. Chocolate heaven.

Original Bayrische BBQUE Barbecue Sauce - £3.99
Firstly, I love the packaging of this product - so sleek, stylish and one to put on the condiments shelf proudly. I haven't tried this yet but it smells divine. I'm thinking of using it in a vegetarian burger, with halloumi kebabs or in a fajita - or maybe just save it for BBQ season.

Jordans Lighter Granola in Strawberry and Blueberry - £3.69
This came at the most perfect time, as I'd been really fancying granola with yogurt and fresh fruit for a couple of weeks. So on my next trip to the supermarket I bought some cherry yogurt, fresh strawberries and blueberries. My breakfast since has consisted of this granola with a splash of milk, cherry yogurt and fresh fruit - a breakfast perfect for spring time.

REVIEW: February Degustabox

Last month I first introduced you to the Degustabox - a fantastic subscription box service in which you recieve a box FULL of food and drink goodies every month. The January box was filled with healthy products, new year and all that. Now onto the February Degustabox* - a box much more to my personal taste. We're talking chocolate, nuts, lots of interesting flavours and new products to try out! Opening the Degustabox is always so exciting because you never know what's going to be inside, I'm a sucker for this kind of thing.
Schwartz Flavour Shots x2 - £1.40 each
I'm all up for easy, quick ways of introducing a lot of flavour to meals, especially with having no real kitchen at the moment (we're in the middle of renovating). These Schwartz Flavour Shots came in Indian Mild Masala Curry and Spanish Paella - I can't wait to try these out!
Whole earth 3 nut spread - £3
A new twist on peanut butter, which I hadn't come across before. This spread contains cashews, peanuts and hazelnuts - a dreamy combination if you ask me. I've been really enjoying this on toast and on slices of apple.
Jack Link's Beef Snack - £1.39
As a vegetarian I'm clearly not able to try this but I've heard it was very chewy! It doesn't have to be kept in the fridge, so it's perfect for packed lunches.
Original Melba Thins - £1.39
Hello current pregnancy obsession! These are packaged in 10 sets, so you don't have to eat the whole box of Melba thins in one go - ideal for keeping that crispness. I love love love these with margarine, pickle, cheese, chilli jam and jam - not all at the same time though.
Beet It Sport Pro-Elite Bar x2 -£1.35 each
These are Beetroot and Oat flapjacks, ideal for energy when excersing for any length of time. The combination of oats and beetroot is an interesting one, it's something I wouldn't usually try but hav now had the opportunity to thanks to the Degustabox.
Laimon Fresh Sparkling Lemon-Lime and Mint Drink -£1.99
I absolutely loved the sound of this when I saw it in the box, if sounded like a mojito but without the alcohol - therefore pregnancy friendly! It's so tasty and does taste similar to a mojito, I regretted not drinking it with lots of crushed ice. Now I'm on the hunt for more, so that I can do just that!
American Muffin Co. Ltd 6 Chocolate Brownie Bites - £2.50
Anything that makes my packed lunches more exciting is good with me and these brownies definitely did that. They are individually wrapped, making them ideal for on the go. They're also gluten and wheat free.
Lily O'Briens Cocoa Cookie Crunch -£2.50
This was my favourite product from this Degustabox box - they are incredible. Chocolately, crunchy and bite size all make for the most delicious treat. We made our way through this whole bag in an embarrassingly quick time
Peanut Hottie -£3
I have seen this peanut butter flavour hot drink floating around social media for a while and been so intrigued. Now I have the opportunity to try it and I'm a bit nervous if I'm honest. I haven't tried if yet but I've smelt it and it smells sweeeet!

You can use the code -ZJXE0- for a £3 discount - so go check out the website!

REVIEW: Degustabox - a box full of edible goodies each month!

Recently I have become quite obsessed with the wide range of monthly subscription services available - to me they feel like a present to myself, even if I'm the one who has paid for it in the first place. As you don't know what's going to be turning up in the box, it's so exciting when you get the text/email saying your parcel will be delivered that day! In fact I wrote a blog post back in December about the range of non-beauty related subscription boxes available, which you can read here.

Degustabox combines the monthly subscription service with food - two of my favourite things at the moment. You enjoy between 9-14 surprise products, many of which are completely new to the market and the value of the products is always more than you pay per month. All you have to do is sign up for only £12.99 a month (inc. delivery), wait patiently for the email/text to say your parcel will be delivered that day, receive the delivery, open up the box and explore the contents. I also like the fact that there is no commitment, a downfall of many subscription services, so once you've signed up you can cancel at any time. This means its perfect to try out, if you like it then keep it going and if you don't find it's for you, you can easily cancel. Although with Degustabox I would struggle to find a reason to cancel!

January 2015 Degustabox* contained:

Alfa One Rice Oil (£2) -
An oil that is nutritionally well balanced and high in natural antioxidants, such as vitamin E and Gamma Oryzanol (which has been shown to reduce cholesterol absorption). It's a super healthy cooking oil and is so versatile!

Koko Dairy Free Original (£1.39) -
I have heard so much about this product and seen many bloggers rave about it! It's a unique alternative to cow's milk made with freshly pressed coconut milk. It contains fewer calories than skimmed milk (bonus!), 0% cholesterol (double bonus!) and is 100% allergen free (triple bonus!).

Kabuto Noodles (£2) -
these are a delicious combination of authentic Asian flavours and quality ingredients. This is a tasty 'on the go' product, full of flavour and there's no risk of any leftovers.

Sukrin Bread Mix (£5) -
Sukrin is a low carbohydrate, versatile and Free-From Sunflower and Pumpkin Seed Bread Mix - delicious! This product doesn't have to be used to make a typical loaf of bread, you can also use it to make tortilla wraps, pizza bases, burger buns etc.

Finn Crisp (£1.20) -
I go through phases of being a complete cracker addict. These are crunchy crispbreads, made from wholegrain so they are high in fibre, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. They are baked sourdough, resulting in them having that distinct tangy flavour as well as being low in fat. Perfect for anyone who has made a New Years Resolution to be healthier!

Simplee Aloe (£1.79) -
A natural, never from concentrate drink that I had never tried or seen before! The aloe vera is blended with grape juice and a squeeze of lemon to create a tasty, refreshing drink.

2x Little Miracles (£1.49 each) -
Another interesting drink - a blend of organic tea, juice and ginseng, then sweetened with agave and all for less than 90 calories a bottle. They aren't fizzy, which is a big bonus for me as I can't drink much fizz since being pregnant.

2x Mornflake (£1.50) -
I am such a sucker for convenience these days, I'd much rather catch a couple more minutes in bed than spend ages making a gourmet breakfast. This is where Mornflake steps in, with their new version of porridge pots. These come with a little sachet of either nutella or golden syrup - breakfast heaven!

Haywards Piccalilli (£1.89) -
Personally I'm not such a fan of piccalilli but that doesn't mean this product went to waste, Tom's grandparents love it and were so happy when we dropped this jar round! Piccalilli is chunky vegetables in a tangy mustard sauce, often eaten in sandwiches, burgers and at BBQ's.

Clipper Green Tea with Lemon -
There was a special gift included in the January box, a generous sample pack of Clipper Fairtrade Green Tea. The benefits of green tea are endless and it is very good for detoxing your body. I've also read that cold green tea makes a great addition to your skincare routine too!

The focus of this box was being healthy, as it has been the start of a new year! I also have a £3 off discount code for when you sign up - ZJXE0 <the last digit it a zero - so why not go and check their website out now?

What kind of products would you like to see in a Degustabox?
