TRAVEL: Preparing for our first family holiday to Iceland

Soon we are jetting off to the cold shores of Iceland, which was my Christmas present from my husband. He had been eager to go abroad in the summer, but I was too scared about taking a toddler on an aeroplane so we settled for a staycation instead. However fast forward quite a few months and I'm now about to take a toddler on a flight, whilst being pregnant! I'm actually feeling quite calm about the whole thing, which is surprising me. I'm a worrier at the best of times, but I'm so excited to visit Iceland as it's one country I've always wanted to visit. You see I hate hot weather, like really hate it, so where could be more perfect for me than a country called Iceland? So, very soon we will jetting off into the sunrise, braving flying with a toddler and experiencing the natural wonders of Iceland.

Now, I'm certainly no expert in 'travel tips' or 'places to visit' (hopefully I'll come back an informed woman, but right now I feel like I know absolutely nothing), but documenting this milestone and seeking advice from fellow parents is what learning is about. Iceland is cold, very cold, so we've been hunting high and low for all the warm clothes and snow boots. It's actually been the perfect time of year to be shopping for winter clothes, as shops are reducing prices ready for spring/summer stock. Most, if not all, of the items we've picked up for Isabella have been in the sale. There have been a lot of roll neck tops, jumpers and bobble hats bought over the past month or so, which we now need to try and squeeze into a suitcase. We also picked up these really cute snow boots in the sale at JoJo Maman Bebe for £14, they're a size 6 so slightly big for her but nothing a pair of thick socks can't fix!
I shopped around for a suitable snowsuit for Isabella and we finally settled on a floral snowsuit from F&F Clothing for £14 (on a recent visit to Tesco they had them reduced to £5, so if you're in need of a snowsuit could be worth keeping an eye out).
Our next job is to lay out all of the aspects of the holiday in order, so we can make sure we have all of the relevant documents for every stage. Starting with airport car parking, on to car hire and accommodation. It's so exciting thinking about this family adventure we're about to be off on!

What are your top travel tips?
