Once you are a member of the Gourmet Society you will receive a card (the same size as a credit card) and a code, so that you can download the 'Gourmet Society' app and use your smart phone instead of the actual card. The app is also helpful for when you are out and about because it has an extensive list of all of the restaurants the Gourmet Society card works out and what the discount is. You have to ring up in advance to book your table and mention that you have a Gourmet Society card. I've done this 15 minutes before arriving at a restaurant, so it doesn't necessarily mean you always have to plan ahead. It's also so useful if you go on holiday within the United Kingdom and Ireland because there are offers nationwide and your card can be used at all 6255 restaurants!
The restaurants include popular chains, Michelin-starred venues, as well as more independent restaurants. So it can appeal to everyone who enjoys eating out! Don't forget to always carry your card around with you, as you need to show it when you pay. Some of the bigger chains that are included are:
- Cafe Rouge
- Strada
- Prezzo
- La Tasca
- Revolution
- tigertiger
They are currently offering a 1 month FREE TRIAL (I've already signed up for it!)- which is a great opportunity to see how great this card is! There is also no risk of being forced into paying for a membership after 1 month because they don't take any bank card details either! You can upgrade the FREE 1 month to 3 months for £1 if you prefer a longer trial.
It's best to be slightly tactful as to when you apply for the 1 month free trial, for instance if you are really busy at the moment and are not likely to eat out much, then there's no point applying for one now! Wait until you have time to go out, but be careful because I don't know when this offer will finish! Luckily though, they have similar offers quite often :)
