RECIPE: {No Refined Sugar} Oaty Berry Slices

Oats, berries and nuts all make for a deliciously filling bar that could be enjoyed as a snack or are ideal for a quick breakfast to go. Both Isabella and I enjoy these for breakfast, they freeze well too so there's always a batch in the freezer ready to go. The oaty base could have a variety of other tasty ingredients added, such as fresh chopped blueberries, raisins, spices etc. The options are endless, so let your imagination run wild.

What you'll need:
150g Porridge oats
5 tbsp Greek or natural yogurt
3 tsp Maple syrup, optional
1/2 tsp Mixed spice
4 tbsp Homemade Berry Chia Seed Jam (see recipe here)
for topping
50g Porridge oats
2 tsp Coconut oil
50g Mixed chopped nuts
1 tbsp Dark Sweet Freedom Syrup

What to do:
1) Preheat the oven to 180'C. Combine the oats, yogurt, maple syrup and mixed spice in a bowl. It should create a mouldable mixture.
2) Press the mixture into a lined baking dish, so that it's evenly spread out. Bake for 5 minutes.
3) Spread the Berry Chia Seed Jam all over the cooked oat mixture.
4) To make the topping - melt the coconut oil in a bowl (30 seconds in the microwave), stir in the oats, dark Sweet Freedom and nuts.
5) Gently press the topping on top of the jam oat mixture. Bake for 15 minutes or until the topping is golden brown.
6) Once cool cut into slices and enjoy!
