WEDDING: Preparations, Flower Girls and How to Create a Sweet Table

WEDDING: Preparations, Flower Girls and How to Create a Sweet Table

This year marks five years since my husband and I got married, which I can barely believe. Where does the time go? It's been a busy five years with buying houses, having two children and job changes, all of which with my husband by my side. We absolutely loved planning our wedding and because we did a lot of it ourselves it really was a long journey. Although the world of weddings seems a distant memory, it has recently been brought back to the forefront of my mind with the exciting announcement that my sister and brother-in-law are getting married this year! I am beyond excited to watch, help and support them on their journey towards their wedding at the end of this year.

Preparing for a wedding is exhausting, time consuming yet the most incredible experience as you plan what will probably be the best and most love filled party you'll ever throw. I remember being so excited about having everyone I love all in one place; a rare treat that simply doesn't happen in day-to-day life. One of the most exciting aspects of my sister and brother-in-law's wedding is that Isabella and Poppy are going to be Flower Girls, along with their two cousins! My heart melts at just the thought of them walking down the aisle altogether, so I'm sure I'll be an emotional mess by the time the bride makes her appearance.
Isabella and Poppy are beyond excited for the wedding and Isabella has suddenly got a lot of marriage related questions to ask. They can't wait to twirl around in a pretty dress, get to stay up a bit later and do all of the dancing. As Flower Girls they wanted to help with the wedding preparations (well...Isabella did and Poppy wants to do everything Isabella does anyway), so together we have helped to put together the all important sweet table for the wedding. We had a sweet table at our wedding and it was such a hit with our guests because it was accessible throughout the day, the children loved having the opportunity to eat sweets and it was one of the most affordable parts of our wedding day.
Swizzels Matlow is such a nostalgic brand when it comes to sweets and therefore the perfect choice for weddings/events. They have a whole section on their website dedicated to weddings, from Personalised Love Heart Favours to Candy Buffet Bundles and even Proposal Love Hearts. Personally, I think creating a sweet table for a wedding is all about getting guests talking and providing a range of sweets. The nostalgic sweets from Swizzels are the ideal talking point at weddings, as guests reminisce about buying them for a penny 'back in the day' or go on a journey down memory lane as they eat them. Their sweets are also very easy to buy in bulk with most available in 3kg party packs or 600 count tubs.

The girl's and I choose the following sweets for the wedding later in the year:

They are having around 60 guests to the day and 120 to the evening, so we wanted there to be enough sweets for all of the guests, which I hope there will be. I think there is such an array of sweets within this collection that they should tickle everyone's taste buds. To present the sweets pretty jars, bowls or even old jam jars look really vintage, especially when you add little paper bags in the colour scheme of the wedding and metal scoops. It all gives the feel of visiting the village shop as a child or at least it does for me anyway.

Favours are also a big part of a wedding, however they can quickly add up and we all know that weddings are expensive enough as it is. Swizzels have created the perfect favour that is both personal and affordable. Their Just Married Love Hearts with Personalised Wrappers are only £10 for 50 rolls, £20 for 100 rolls etc., so are really affordable and can be completely personalised. During the personalisation process you can choose the text, background wording (Mr and Mrs, Bride and Groom, Just Married, Mr and Mr, Ms and Ms, Bride and Bride, Groom and Groom, Save the Date), font, text colour and font size. As you go through the personalisation choices their is a label preview displaying your choices, which makes it easy to see what the finished label will look like and whether you're happy with the positioning etc. When the Love Hearts arrive the labels will be separate, so you can have a fun wedding preparation evening putting all of the labels onto the rolls of Love Hearts.
We are all very excited for the wedding in the autumn and in the mean time we're going to do all that we can to help with the preparations!

What's your favourite part of being a guest at a wedding?

Feel free to leave a comment - I love reading every single one :)
